Job Summary

CSG is seeking a Product Owner II to lead the delivery of new features for its cloud-based digital BSS Ascendon platform. This role involves actively participating in PI Planning, defining product requirements, owning the team backlog, translating requirements into user stories, guiding the development team, managing defects, and maintaining customer awareness to inform design and prioritization decisions for complex, high-impact initiatives.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in an agile product development environment, building complex, scalable applications
  • Experience in Telecom BSS domain
  • Strong experience as a Product Owner delivering features end-to-end
  • Proven experience authoring clear functional requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Active participation in test design, validation, and feature readiness to ensure high quality releases
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to make informed, timely decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Strong industry experience in telecom BSS, with the ability to translate complex domain concepts into actionable product requirements
  • Ability to break down complex business problems and high-level solutions into deliverable increments
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and drive shared understanding across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to negotiate trade-offs and align multiple stakeholders toward balanced, value-driven outcomes
  • Strong experience working in agile product development teams delivering scalable, high-performance systems

Role Overview

We are looking for a Product Owner II to deliver new features from concept to launch for CSG’s cloud-based digital BSS Ascendon platform. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong Product Owner with deep product development experience to join our growing R&D organization and take ownership of complex, high-impact initiatives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:-

PI Planning & Product Definition

  • Prepare for and actively participate in PI Planning.
  • Work closely with Product Management and key stakeholders to understand, clarify, and shape candidate features.
  • Collaborate with Technical Leads and other Product Owners on cross-team initiatives.
  • Develop business use cases, support Level 0 estimations, and help define MVP scope.
  • Provide clear context around functional and non-functional requirements, dependencies, risks, and priorities.

Sprint Execution & Delivery

  • Own the team backlog and translate product requirements into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Continuously refine and reprioritise the backlog to maximise customer and business value.
  • Actively guide the development team through clarifications, Q&A, and trade-off decisions.
  • Support exploratory testing and other validation activities as needed.
  • Formally accept completed stories and lead sprint demos with the team.

Defect Management

  • Groom and manage the defect backlog.
  • Partner with Client Services and other external teams to ensure effective prioritisation and timely resolution of defects.

Customer & Implementation Awareness

  • Maintain strong awareness of customer implementations and real-world usage patterns.
  • Liaise with Services, Managed Services, and where possible, customers, to deeply understand the intent behind Product Management requests.
  • Use customer and operational insights to inform prioritization and design decisions.
