Job Summary

X-FLOW, a mobile game development company known for Happy Color, is seeking a proactive QA Automation Tech Lead (Web & Backend). This remote role involves designing and developing comprehensive test frameworks, owning the automation roadmap, and significantly increasing test coverage for critical user flows and APIs. The lead will integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, mentor the QA team, and collaborate with developers to enhance testability and developer experience. Candidates need 4+ years in QA Automation, strong TypeScript/JavaScript, Playwright/Cypress expertise, and experience with API testing, GitLab CI, and Docker. Russian C1/higher and English B1 are required.

Must Have

  • Design and develop test frameworks (e2e/UI, API, contract, integration)
  • Own automation roadmap and technical vision
  • Increase effective test coverage with a focus on critical user flows and APIs
  • Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, including PR runs, nightly/regression tests, flaky detectors, quarantine mechanisms, artifact management, and maintaining stable quality gates
  • Mentor the team, conduct test code reviews
  • Work closely with developers to reduce technical debt, improve testability, and enhance developer experience (DX)
  • 4+ years in QA Automation
  • 3+ years working with TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Deep experience with Playwright and/or Cypress
  • Experience with REST/GraphQL API testing; creating contract tests, working with schemas (OpenAPI/Swagger), and client generation
  • Experience with GitLab CI, artifact management, sharding/parallelism, retries, and pipeline containerization
  • Proficiency with Docker
  • Russian - C1/higher
  • English - B1

Good to Have

  • Experience in adoption of automation frameworks and quality gates practices across teams
  • Experience with Kubernetes (k8s)
  • Familiarity with basic AWS services for test environments

Job Description

X-FLOW is a mobile game development company established in 2018. We gained recognition after the release of Happy Color, the most popular digital coloring book and one of the most successful ad-driven mobile apps in the world. We take pride in our diverse and talented team and partners, spread across the UK, Cyprus, the Netherlands, and other regions worldwide.

We are currently looking for a proactive QA Automation Tech Lead (Web & Backend) for our flagship project, Happy Color.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop test frameworks from scratch (e2e/UI, API, contract, integration), including setting standards and best practices.
  • Own automation roadmap and technical vision.
  • Increase effective test coverage with a focus on critical user flows and APIs.
  • Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, including PR runs, nightly/regression tests, flaky detectors, quarantine mechanisms, artifact management, and maintaining stable quality gates.
  • Mentor the team, conduct test code reviews.
  • Work closely with developers to reduce technical debt, improve testability, and enhance developer experience (DX).

Requirements:

  • Experience: 4+ years in QA Automation, with at least 3+ years working with TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Deep experience with Playwright and/or Cypress; understanding of architectural differences and expectation models.
  • Experience with REST/GraphQL API testing; creating contract tests, working with schemas (OpenAPI/Swagger), and client generation.
  • Experience with GitLab CI, artifact management, sharding/parallelism, retries, and pipeline containerization.
  • Proficiency with Docker; experience with Kubernetes (k8s) is a plus; familiarity with basic AWS services for test environments.
  • Russian - C1/higher, English - B1.
