Broadcom is seeking an R&D Application Engineer for their Regensburg, Germany location, focusing on high-volume fiber optic products, optical transceivers, and optical sensors. The role involves providing customer application support for the IFPD product portfolio, initiating and optimizing characterization setups, and performing validation for opto-electronic devices using various lab equipment. Responsibilities also include issuing technical documentation, analyzing field returns, supporting quality initiatives, and conducting feasibility studies for market research.
Must have:
  • Customer application support for Broadcom IFPD product portfolio (optical transmitters, receivers, transceivers, sensors)
  • Initiate and optimize new characterization setups
  • Perform characterization and design for manufacturing validation for opto-electronic devices
  • Use BERT, DCA, Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzer, and other laboratory equipment
  • Issue data sheets, application notes, and white papers
  • Analyze field returns and support quality initiatives
  • Conduct feasibility studies for early market studies

Broadcom Regensburg/Germany:

We are based in the ancient city of Regensburg, located 100 km north of Munich in southern Germany. We focus on high volume fiber optic products, optical transceivers and optical sensors for industrial and automotive applications. We are a worldwide leader in industrial fiber optics and continuously expand our product portfolio to address optical sensing. Therefore, we intend to strengthen our team and offer the permanent position of an application engineer.

More specific duties include the following:

  • Customer application support for the Broadcom IFPD product portfolio including optical transmitters, receivers, transceivers and sensors
  • Initiate new characterization setups or optimize them
  • Perform characterization and design for manufacturing validation for opto-electronic devices by using BERT, DCA, Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzer and other laboratory equipment
  • Issue data sheets, application notes and white papers
  • Analysis of field returns, support of quality initiatives
  • Feasibility studies for early market studies
