Job Description
About Luma AI
Luma’s mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities. We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable, and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So, we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
Where You Come In
We are looking for a Recruiter for Applied Research to find the rare hybrids who sit between the "Lab" and the "Product." In this role, you will hunt for the elusive talent that can read a paper and ship production code - the Technical Artists, Graphics Engineers, and Applied Scientists who care about usability as much as capability. You will be the bridge that helps us build the team turning raw intelligence into magical, usable creative tools.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Hybrid Search: Take ownership of hiring for Applied Scientists, Graphics Engineers, and Technical Artists. You understand that these candidates are often found in the gaming industry, VFX, or at the intersection of Art and ML.
- Identify "Makers": Screen not just for credentials, but for portfolios. You are looking for people who build cool things with code and AI, and you know how to spot high-craft work.
- Bridge the Gap: Act as the strategic partner to hiring managers who need to translate "research goals" into "hiring profiles." You help define what "good" looks like in a rapidly evolving field.
- Pitch the Product: You can articulate the vision of "Dream Machine" to candidates who want to see their work in the hands of millions of users, not just in a paper.
- Creative Sourcing: Use AI agents to scour GitHub, ArtStation, and specialized communities to find talent that isn't active on LinkedIn.
Who You Are
- Technical Translator: You have 4+ years of experience recruiting for roles that involve Computer Vision, Graphics, or Applied ML. You understand the difference between a Researcher and an Applied Engineer.
- Portfolio Focused: You know how to evaluate "builders." You get excited when a candidate has a side project, a demo reel, or a GitHub full of experiments.
- High Agency: You are a builder. You don't wait for permission to try a new sourcing strategy or test a new tool.
- Startup DNA: You move fast. You understand that Applied Research is the velocity engine of Luma, and you match that pace.
- AI Fluent: You treat AI as your co-pilot. You use it to automate scheduling, outreach, and market mapping.
What Sets You Apart (Bonus Points)
- Background in recruiting for Gaming, VFX, or Creative Tools companies.
- Experience recruiting Research Engineers, Applied Engineers, Technical Artists or Graphics Engineers.
- A passion for generative art and creative technology.
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $125,000 – $240,000 per year.
