Job Description

The Security Engineering Intern will be responsible for securing system boundaries, hardening computer systems and network devices, and protecting sensitive data. The intern will identify and define system security requirements, design security architecture, develop cyber security designs, and configure security infrastructure devices. They will also develop security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities, automate tasks, implement and manage security tools, and perform system administration tasks on Linux and Microsoft based systems. The role requires teamwork and working effectively with a team.
Must have:
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or related field
  • Knowledge of security systems, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness
  • Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment

Position Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

The Security Engineering Intern will be making things more secure by protecting system boundaries, keeping computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Identifying and defining system security requirements.
  • Designing computer security architecture and developing detailed cyber security designs.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting security infrastructure devices.
  • Developing technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
  • Implementing, enhancing, and managing security tools and technologies that support the mission to identify and protect DMG IT assets, detect security incidents, and rapidly respond and recover.
  • Performing system administration tasks necessary for security tool platform maintenance, typically on Linux and Microsoft based systems.
  • Can work effectively with a team.

 

What You Need:

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree In Information Systems or Computer Science with a focus in Cybersecurity.
  • Knowledge of security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to effectively present to internal audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments, work independently and take initiative on assigned projects.
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
  • Ability to manage the stress of a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet the in-person requirements of the team and/or business needs.
