About the Role
Technicon Design Sweden is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Light Designer to join our client’s Design Studio in Gothenburg. This role focuses on defining innovative lighting solutions for future vehicles—both interior and exterior—by merging brand identity, safety, and emotional impact through advanced lighting concepts.
You’ll be part of the Technology & Innovation department, collaborating with cross-functional teams including Exterior/Interior Design, CMF, UX, and Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop lighting concepts for ambient, functional, and communication systems.
- Integrate lighting into vehicle forms, considering surfaces, joints, and materials.
- Translate brand DNA into iconic lighting signatures and dynamic behaviors (e.g., welcome/farewell, charging indicators, ADAS signals).
- Use visualization, simulation, and VR tools to validate lighting effects and feasibility.
- Lead presentations and prototypes to communicate design intent to stakeholders and suppliers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher in Industrial/Product/Transportation Design, Interaction/Lighting Design, or similar.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive lighting or related fields (consumer/architecture).
- Strong portfolio showcasing lighting design work.
- Proficiency in Blender and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with supplier collaboration and manufacturable solutions.
- Fluent English communication and presentation skills.
- Hands-on prototyping mindset; basic electronics knowledge is a plus.
- Familiarity with automotive lighting regulations is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with advanced lighting technologies (OLED, AR overlays, projection/DLP).
- Understanding of optics, light guides, materials, and human factors in interiors.
- Experience with Tier-1 suppliers or automotive design studios.
- Knowledge of material-light interaction (UGR/glare analogues, luminance planning).
