Job Summary

Quest Global is seeking a Sr Aero Design Engineer - MRB (Material Review Engineer) to deliver world-class engineering solutions in the aerospace & defense industry. The role primarily involves reviewing and dispositioning Non-Conforming Material, Deviation Requests, and Waivers, requiring the ability to interpret technical information and interact with Design Authority. The engineer will also conduct other design support activities and contribute to business growth, aiming to achieve and maintain 'Certified MRE' status.

Must Have

  • Review and disposition Non-Conforming Material (parts), Deviation Requests, and Waivers.
  • Determine/review part repair requirements or usage parameters.
  • Obtain and hold "Certified MRE" (Material Review Engineer) status.
  • BSAE / BSME degree.
  • 15+ years of Gas Turbine Engine (Aero-preferred) component level Design Engineer experience.
  • Component level aero/marine/industrial power gas turbine design experience.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings including understanding of GD&T.
  • Reviewing engineering assessments, tolerance stacks, engineering change/deviations, repairs.
  • Applying Quality Requirements / Assessing hardware / Interpreting inspection data.
  • Familiarity of CAB (Corrective Action Board) activities.
  • Presenting technical data/results to customer and regulatory representatives.
  • Knowledge of modern high tech manufacturing processes (metal, composites).
  • Interaction with MRP systems (Oracle/SAP/CAPP/Solumina).
  • U.S. Citizenship.

What You Will Do:

  • Primary: Review and disposition Non-Conforming Material (parts), Deviation Requests, and Waivers from OEM and supply base, as well as relatable reviews supporting Aftermarket MRO. Work includes ability to review fit, form, function, interchangeability, health, safety, intended use, weight, appearance and classification (major vs minor) based on provided / requested technical information. Interact technically with Design Authority as needed. Also, possess ability to determine/review part repair requirements or usage parameters.
  • Primary: Must be able to obtain and hold "Certified MRE" (Material Review Engineer) status to remain in this role. MRE customer (re)certification training provided by Quest Global.
  • Conduct other typical design / design support engineering activities
  • Support business growth
  • Provide Technical Reviews on work of other, Certification trainer, OJT/Mentorship within the Engineering Design Discipline
  • Support business growth through daily work / interactions

What You Will Bring:

  • BSAE / BSME (required)
  • Component level aero/marine/industrial power gas turbine design experience - including material and engineering principles (fit, form, function)
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings including understanding of GD&T
  • Reviewing engineering assessments, tolerance stacks, engineering change/deviations, repairs
  • Applying Quality Requirements / Assessing hardware / Interpreting inspection data
  • Familiarity of CAB (Corrective Action Board) activities
  • Presenting technical data/results to customer and regulatory representatives (Federal Aviation Administration; Defense Contract Management Admin)
  • Knowledge (breadth and depth) of modern high tech manufacturing processes (metal, composites) and associated support equipment, gaging, and handling
  • Interaction with MRP systems (Oracle/SAP/CAPP/Solumina)
  • Training / Developing / Mentoring less experienced engineers
  • 15+ years (min. for Full Engine Cert) of Gas Turbine Engine (Aero-preferred - Marine/Industrial - considered) component level Design Engineer experience.
  • MRB (Material Review Board) and/or Non-Conformance evaluation experience (noteworthy)
  • Engineering Signatory responsibilities (noteworthy)

Pay Range: $38/hour - $70/hour

Compensation decisions are per company policy and based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure.

Work Requirements: This position is classified as Remote within United States.

  • When travel is required, you must be able to commute to and from these locations, with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours
  • Working schedule: Weekends 12-20hrs/wk avg. Additional days w/ mutual agreement.
  • Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel is anticipated on occasion to customer sites in Middletown, CT and/or East Hartford, CT.

Citizenship Requirement: Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
