crea-ture Studios Inc. is a small, hybrid, fully remote studio based in Montreal, Canada, focused on making games differently with a lean, cross-disciplinary team. As a Senior Character Artist for an unannounced title, you will be crucial in defining character aesthetics, setting visual benchmarks, and managing character production. The role involves creating stunning characters that align with artistic vision and gameplay needs, empowering team members to contribute and shape the creative process.

Must Have:
  • Create characters aligning with artistic direction.
  • Develop high-quality character models, textures, and materials.
  • Proficient in ZBrush, Maya, and Substance Painter.
  • Strong skills in character modelling, texturing, and shading for realistic and stylized art styles.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine (4-5) and PBR pipelines.
  • Experience as a Character Artist in game development.
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, form, and proportion.
  • Portfolio demonstrating artistic and composition skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the Art Director and art team to create characters that align with the artistic direction of the game.
  • Develop high-quality character models, textures, and materials that set a visual benchmark.
  • Work autonomously, transforming both detailed character sheets and loose concepts into polished 3D characters.
  • Help streamline character production by contributing to pipeline and process development.
  • Collaborate with rigging, animation, and technical artists to ensure characters meet animation and gameplay requirements.
  • Mentor junior artists, contributing to team growth.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience as a Character Artist in game development, ideally with a shipped title.
  • Strong skills in character modelling, texturing, and shading for both realistic and stylized art styles.
  • Proficient in tools like ZBrush, Maya, and Substance Painter.
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, form, and proportion.
  • Ability to work independently in a creative, exploratory environment.
