Senior DevOps Engineer

Plan A Technologies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with strong experience in Azure, Terraform, Confluent Cloud, Grafana Cloud, Cloudflare, and GitHub. This role involves taking ownership of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and cloud security. The initial focus will be setting up Grafana Cloud end-to-end. It's a hands-on position collaborating with engineering leadership to design, automate, and optimize cloud infrastructure across multiple environments. A minimum of 6 years of DevOps experience is required.

Must Have

• Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform (IaC).
• Set up Grafana Cloud from scratch (data sources, dashboards, alerting, integrations).
• Manage and optimize Confluent Cloud (Kafka) clusters, topics, security.
• Configure and maintain Cloudflare settings (DNS, caching, WAF, performance rules).
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub (Actions, workflows, automations).
• Implement infrastructure automation, environment provisioning, and self-service tooling.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and cost optimization.
• Implement and enforce security best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues across distributed services.
• 6+ years as a DevOps, Cloud Engineer, or SRE.
• Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with Grafana Cloud or Grafana Enterprise.
• Solid experience with Confluent Cloud (Kafka architecture).
• Experience using Cloudflare for DNS, security, caching, WAF.
• Strong Git/GitHub knowledge.
• Strong understanding of monitoring, observability, and incident response.

JOB OVERVIEW

This role is for an Engineer with strong experience in Azure, Terraform, Confluent Cloud, Grafana Cloud, Cloudflare, and GitHub. You will take ownership of our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability stack, and cloud security posture.

Your first mission in this role will be to set up Grafana Cloud end-to-end (dashboards, data sources, alerting, integrations), ensuring we establish a scalable and reliable monitoring foundation.

This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you’ll work closely with engineering leadership to design, automate, and optimize cloud infrastructure across multiple environments.

Please note: you must have at least 6+ years of experience as a DevOps to be considered for this role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

• Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform (IaC).
• Set up Grafana Cloud from scratch, including: Configuring data sources (Azure Monitor, logs, metrics, Confluent Cloud, etc.), creating dashboards and alerting rules, integrating with on-call/incident management tools, and establishing best practices for monitoring and observability.
• Manage and optimise Confluent Cloud (Kafka) clusters, topics, security, and integrations.
• Configure and maintain Cloudflare settings (DNS, caching, WAF, performance rules).
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub (Actions, workflows, automations).
• Implement infrastructure automation, environment provisioning, and self-service tooling.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and cost optimisation across all cloud services.
• Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure and pipelines.
• Collaborate with developers to improve reliability, performance, and deployment workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues across distributed services and workloads.
• Document infrastructure, runbooks, and standards.

EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
• 6+ years as a DevOps, Cloud Engineer, or SRE.
• Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure, including networking, compute, storage, identity, monitoring, and security.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code (multi-environment setups).
• Experience with Grafana Cloud or Grafana Enterprise (dashboards, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, alerting).
• Solid experience with Confluent Cloud (Kafka architecture, connectors, ACLs, RBAC).
• Experience using Cloudflare for DNS, security, caching, WAF, and performance tuning.
• Strong Git/GitHub knowledge (Actions, workflows, automation).
• Experience running applications in distributed, cloud-native environments.
• Strong understanding of monitoring, observability, and incident response.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Have solid written and verbal English skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive work attitude.
