Job Summary

Larian Studios, an award-winning developer of high-quality RPGs like Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2, is seeking a Senior Gameplay Animator. This role involves keyframe animation of creatures, cleaning motion capture data, championing artistic vision, researching new features, creating documentation, and implementing/debugging work in-engine. The successful candidate will collaborate cross-departmentally and mentor junior team members to deliver exceptional gameplay experiences.

Must Have

  • Keyframe animation of creatures in a realistic style.
  • Cleaning and enhancing Motion Capture data for humanoids.
  • Championing the artistic vision of the Animation Director.
  • Research, Previsualization, and Prototyping of new features and systems.
  • Creating documentation for workflows and pipelines.
  • Thorough implementation, testing, and debugging of your work in engine.
  • Cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Mentoring less experienced members of the team to manage their tasks and meet deadlines.
  • 8+ years of game animation experience.
  • High proficiency with Autodesk Maya.
  • A passion for Gameplay Animation and the detail orientated mentality it requires to achieve exceptional results.
  • A desire to provide the player with a memorable and unique experience through visual storytelling.
  • Advanced understanding of animation principles and body mechanics.
  • A curious and proactive mindset in regards to staying up to date on industry trends, new technologies, and methodologies.
  • A demo reel showcasing your animation skills.
  • This is a full-time, on-site role, requiring your presence in the office to support collaboration and creativity.

Good to Have

  • Experience working in a game engine (Unreal, Unity, proprietary) including work with state machines.
  • Knowledge of the character rigging and animation pipelines.
  • A passion for video games, especially RPGs.
  • Experience working with actors in a motion capture volume.

As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Senior Gameplay Animator to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.
