Job Description

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and support of hardware controller modules for telecom systems. You will lead cross-functional engineering efforts, ensuring the integration of hardware components. Responsibilities include hardware design, collaboration with other engineering teams, product lifecycle support, component selection, and documentation and testing. You will also contribute to system architecture.
Must have:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in hardware engineering.
  • Proficient in microprocessor support circuit design.
  • Skilled in schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware-software integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving attitude and capability.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
Good to have:
  • Proven experience working with embedded systems.
  • Understanding of CPLD programming.
  • Understanding of the NEBS and ETSI requirements.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and support of Hardware controller modules for our cutting-edge telecom systems. You will lead cross-functional engineering efforts, contribute to system architecture, and ensure seamless integration of hardware components into the end products. This role requires deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for innovation.

Principal Duties and Essential Functions

  • Hardware Design & Development: Lead the specification, schematic design, PCB layout guidance, and integration of hardware components for Adtran products.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with Systems Engineering, FPGA, Mechanics, Software, and Operations teams across global development sites to ensure cohesive product development.

  • Product Lifecycle Support: Provide engineering support for products in production and facilitate potential transfers to other R&D or manufacturing units.

  • Component Selection: Drive the selection and procurement of commercial devices in compliance with regulatory, procurement, and operational standards.

  • Documentation & Testing:

    • Create and maintain Hardware Design Specifications

    • Develop and execute hardware and integration test plans

    • Oversee the release process of PCB assemblies into production

    • Support the Operations team with the definition of the production testing procedures.

  • System-Level Contribution: Engage at the system architecture level, contributing to the Hardware Part of the System design.

Basic Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: 8–10+ years in hardware engineering.

  • Hardware Design:

    • Proficient in microprocessor support circuit design (e.g., SDRAM, Flash, PLDs, peripheral interfaces).

    • Skilled in schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware-software integration.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving attitude and capability.

  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English.

  • Team Orientation: Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Embedded Systems Experience: Proven experience working with embedded systems.

  • Programmable devices: Understanding of CPLD programming.

  • Standard Compliance: Understanding of the NEBS and ETSI requirements and their impact on Hardware and Mechanical design.
