  You will...

• Work with dedicated researchers, engineers, and designers to bring groundbreaking assessment instruments to life
• Collaborate in the development and auditing of English assessment content (including qualitative and quantitative studies of new, interactive item formats)
• Help develop quality control processes to monitor item bank health
• Conduct studies related to the validity, reliability, and fairness of test scores
• Share Duolingo English Test research findings through blogs, technical reports, conference presentations (LTRC, AAAL, LARC, etc.), and peer-reviewed journals (Language Testing, Applied Linguistics, Language Assessment Quarterly, etc.)

  You have...

• Must have a PhD in language testing, applied linguistics, second language acquisition, or a related field
• 3+ years of work experience in language assessment (academia or industry)
• Outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills
• Experience developing and/or conducting research on high-stakes language assessments, or other meaning professional experience
• Research expertise and publication / presentation record in the field of language assessment
• Experience with large language models for content generation and a general knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing and other technologies in language testing
• Familiarity with standard language proficiency frameworks (CEFR preferred)
• A desire to make the world a better place through technology
• Ability to work from or relocate to Pittsburgh, PA

  Exceptional candidates will have...

• 5+ years of post-PhD experience working in an education-related field
• Excellent skills in data analysis tools, such as R and Python
• Experience with the design and development of computer-adaptive tests
• Proficiency in more than one language
