Slack is looking for an engineering leader to join our Frontend engineering team within the Application Architecture and Systems (ArchSys) organization. This team is responsible for the architecture and core modules powering the Slack desktop UI, as well as the platform enabling Slack to build and ship frontend features. In addition to these responsibilities, the team stewards and contributes heavily to the Electron Open Source project, which powers the Slack Desktop client on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
As a Sr Engineering Manager in ArchSys Frontend, you will be leading an experienced and diverse team, coaching towards project milestones and career growth, and advocating for and maintaining a clear roadmap and long term vision. While you won’t be defining the architecture or writing the code yourself, you care deeply about web technologies, frameworks, maintainability, and developer efficiency, and will be crafting the future of FE and Desktop engineering at Slack.
A key part of this role will be developing relationships with partners including engineers, engineering managers, and product managers in order to weigh in and make trade offs against existing business priorities as well as champion team interests which may include maintaining momentum for large scale, multi-quarter initiatives.
If you enjoy building high-functioning teams, thinking about the future of web technologies like React or web components, and navigating challenges such as long term code health and developer velocity, then this is the role for you.
