Must Have:
  • Reconcile historical social security and pension contributions.
  • Document end-to-end payroll processes for transparency and audit readiness.
  • Support rationalization of legal entities and consolidation of payroll operations.
  • Contribute to planning for global outsourced payroll engine transition.
  • Collaborate with Finance for accurate payroll accounting (general ledger, labour distribution, accruals).
  • Identify and resolve payroll issues and data discrepancies proactively.
  • Build strong relationships with HR, Finance, Technology, and external vendors.
  • Provide French payroll subject matter expertise to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a French payroll role.
  • In-depth understanding of French payroll legislation and accounting processes.
  • Proven experience in payroll transformation or integration projects.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken French and English.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g., Sage, ADP, SAP).
  • Familiarity with enterprise HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday or SuccessFactors).

Role Overview

The post holder will execute complex payroll transformation initiatives in France, playing a key role in enhancing payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. A critical part of this role will involve preparing for the transition to a new global outsourced payroll platform.

The individual will work cross-functionally with Payroll, Finance, and Technology teams, both locally in France and across the EMEA region. This is a highly collaborative and hands-on role, well suited to a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of French payroll legislation and payroll accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconciliation of historical social security and pension contributions, ensuring all payments and records are accurate and up to date.
  • Document end-to-end payroll processes to support transparency, consistency, and audit readiness.
  • Support the rationalisation of multiple legal entities and the consolidation of payroll operations from several outsourced providers into a single in-house payroll team.
  • Contribute to planning and preparation activities for the transition to a global outsourced payroll engine.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure payroll accounting, such as general ledger entries, labour distribution reports, and accruals is accurate and aligned.
  • Identify and resolve payroll issues and data discrepancies with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Technology, and external vendors to deliver outcomes aligned with project objectives.
  • Provide French payroll subject matter expertise to inform decision-making and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Experience / Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in a French payroll role.
  • In-depth understanding of French payroll legislation, with particular focus on payroll accounting processes (e.g. general ledger, accruals, LDR).
  • Proven experience managing or contributing to payroll transformation or integration projects in complex, matrix organisations.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken French and English.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems (e.g. Sage, ADP, SAP).
  • Familiarity with enterprise HRIS platforms such as Workday or SuccessFactors.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and interpret complex payroll data and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, HR, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
