  • Navigate the dual role of hands-on code contributor across multiple platforms within the domain, while concurrently providing pivotal technical leadership and architectural guidance
  • Proactively identify and implement tools, patterns, and frameworks that enhance the overarching development process and amplify the overall engineering efficiency and quality
  • Exercise strong leadership in production incidents, driving the investigation, timely resolution, and improvements required.
  • Influence the direction and priorities of development teams, balancing system improvements with architectural roadmaps and requirements from product management
  • Mentor and lead developers across the organization, and create opportunities to share knowledge

Position Overview

Platform Services and Emerging Technologies team is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Principal Software Engineer to join our team. The team delivers high-value, exabyte-scale and cloud data platform components powering desktop, mobile, and web products. This enables our product teams to build cohesive in-product data experiences, our partners to integrate and expand our data, and our end-users to work with their data across all products.

You will play a significant role in building core components and services, which power SaaS applications in industries of manufacturing, architecture, engineering and construction, media and entertainment with efficient and flexible data management capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of cloud services or large-scale platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ years of software design, development, and/or consulting experience in cloud systems or web services, with at least 7 years in a team leadership or principal/staff-level IC role
  • 12+ years of production-level hands-on Java development experience (ideally 7+ years with Java 8 and above)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (or other cloud provider's) technologies such as ECS, SQS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, Lambda, etc
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs
  • Experience using Terraform (or other Infrastructure as Code alternatives)
  • Strong understanding of design patterns and software architecture principles
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, large-scale cloud projects involving multiple teams
  • Mastery of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, tools, and Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and present complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Experience building scalable systems and services in the cloud, within Microservice and/or Serverless architectures
  • Experience in building, running and monitoring high-stakes Production cloud SaaS applications & environments at large scale
  • Track record of mentoring and developing technical talent within the organization
  • Experience with multi-repo GIT code bases, REST-based web services, testing frameworks such as Blazemeter, shell scripts, automated CI/CD pipelines

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with DevOps tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git, Artifactory, Spinnaker)
  • Strong experience with real-time messaging systems (SQS/SNS, PubNub, AppSync, and similar)
  • Experience with major refactoring projects
  • Experience with Test-Driven-Development (TDD)
