Job Summary

Crytek is seeking a Senior Technical Designer (AI Design) for Hunt Showdown. This role involves designing, building, and improving enemy AI behaviors and abilities, working closely with various teams to ensure enemies fit the story, support gameplay, and provide a great combat experience. It's a hands-on position, taking ideas from concept to final in-game quality, with responsibility for the overall AI experience.

Must Have

  • Own the full design of enemy AI, from first idea to final version in the game.
  • Create a complete and balanced enemy ecosystem where all enemies work well together.
  • Work with programmers to ensure your designs perform well and are technically possible.
  • Define needs for tools, systems, and workflows to support fast prototyping of new enemy ideas.
  • Build enemy AI that reacts well when multiple players interact with an enemy at the same time.
  • Test, balance, and polish all enemies to reach high gameplay and quality standards.
  • Give and ask for feedback to help improve design work, tools, and pipelines.
  • 5+ years of experience in Game Design or Technical Design with strong implementation work.
  • Good understanding of visual scripting and/or programming languages.
  • Experience designing AI and working with Behavior Trees.
  • Strong communication skills in English and good teamwork skills.
  • A mindset of learning, openness, and clear communication.
  • Willingness to relocate to Frankfurt, Germany.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Designer (AI Design) to help create exciting and high-quality enemy AI for Hunt Showdown. In this role, you are responsible for designing, building, and improving enemy behaviors and abilities. You work closely with design, programming, animation, and level teams to make sure the enemies fit the story, support the gameplay, and feel great to fight.

This is a hands-on role. You will take ideas from early concept to final in-game quality. You are responsible for what you deliver and for the overall AI experience in the game.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Game Design or Technical Design with strong implementation work.
