Job Summary
As a member of the Shipping / Receiving team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of shipping and receiving processes including incoming shipments of products, organizing merchandise for delivery, and keeping records regarding these transactions. Your typical day will involve verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for shipment, determining shipping methods, affixing labels, assembling containers, inserting items with protective padding, and handling damaged goods or shortages. You will also route items to departments, examine outgoing shipments for compliance, mark inventory, and lift/move packages.
Must Have
- Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare items for shipment.
- Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items.
- Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
- Affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
- Insert items into containers, using spacers, fillers and protective padding.
- Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal tape using strapping machine.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages.
- Correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Route items to departments.
- Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Mark inventory items with proper item numbers using labeling equipment.
- Lift and move items/packages to assigned location.

What will your typical day look like?
- Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
- Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons.
- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
- Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers and protective padding.
- Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape using strapping machine.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Mark inventory items with proper item numbers using labeling equipment.
- Lift and move items/packages to assigned location.
What do we want to know about you? (Requirements and Qualifications)
- Minimum of a high school education.
- One year of factory related experience in shipping and receiving.
- Required to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math.
- Read and comprehends simple instructions.

Employment Elligibility:

Language of work for positions permanently located in Quebec :
The company offers refurbishing and AAR compliance services for parts used in manufacturing trains and locomotives. Work is conducted in English due to the need for traceability through a pathway with other establishments outside Quebec. Clients are largely foreign and interaction with partners from outside Quebec is constant. Accordingly, knowledge of English is required for this position.
Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues and suppliers in Quebec as necessary. French-language training will be offered to all incumbents in permanent positions in Quebec who do not have a good knowledge of French.
