Job Summary
CAE's Training Centre Operations is seeking a Simulator Technician for the Fixed Wing Search & Rescue (FWSAR) Operational Training Unit (OTU) at 19 Wing Comox. This role involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance (hardware and software), providing operational support, and troubleshooting complex issues on training devices. The technician will ensure all training devices are serviceable and ready, supporting internal and external customers, and maintaining accurate maintenance records to uphold training excellence and safety.
Must Have
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance (hardware and software)
- Perform and assist in the analysis and resolving of software and hardware related issues
- Monitor and ensure all training devices are serviceable and ready for training
- Identify potential system problems and formulate plans to solve them
- Support internal and external customers for modifications, updates, testing, maintenance and repair
- Produce/update maintenance records
- Debug and troubleshoot complex problems (computer systems, networking, audio/video distribution, avionics systems)
- 2-year technical degree or 4 years in an electronic, avionic, or technical related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Customer-centric with experience and success providing customer service
- Proven experience with database design and SQL
- Familiar with GIT, software development, and knowledge of computing networks and architecture
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and be a dynamic team player
- Strong knowledge of English (read, written, spoken)
- Strong communication skills
- Physically able to perform manual labour tasks, and/or work in confined spaces
- Eligibility to work in Canada (Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid Work Permit)
- Capable of obtaining and maintaining Controlled Goods Clearance and Government of Canada security clearance

- Understanding of aircraft terminology and simulation devices
- Ability to interpret schematics and other technical documents
- Experience on flight training devices
- Experience in military environment

Sounds like something you are up for? That’s why we need you to complete our team. As part of the Fixed Wing Search & Rescue (FWSAR) Operational Training Unit (OTU) at 19 Wing Comox, we are looking to hire Maintenance Technicians to work on our Simulator.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance (hardware and software), and operational support, as detailed in the quality and maintenance documents, to achieve required availability and reliability on training devices
- Perform and assist in the analysis and resolving of software and hardware related issues
- Monitors and ensures that all training devices are serviceable and ready for training
- Identifies potential system problems and confers with technical experts and colleagues to formulate plans to solve such problems using approved processes and procedures
- Support internal and external customers for modifications, updates, testing, maintenance and repair
- Produce/update maintenance records in according with established practices & processes
- Debug and troubleshoot complex problems spanning a wide range of technologies including, but not limited to: computer systems, networking, audio/video distribution, avionics systems
- Ability to travel and work shift/overtime when needed
Required Skills & Experience
- 2-year technical degree or 4 years in an electronic, avionic, or technical related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Customer-centric with experience and success providing customer service
- Proven experience with database design and SQL, familiar with GIT, software development, and knowledge of computing networks and architecture
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and be a dynamic team player
- Strong knowledge of English, read, written and spoken
- Strong communication skills
- Physically able to perform manual labour tasks, and/or work in confined spaces
- MANDATORY: Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or with a valid Work Permit
- MANDATORY: Capable of obtaining and maintaining both Controlled Goods Clearance and a Government of Canada security clearance
