Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you will be crucial in building and maintaining the Partner Discovery solution. This involves creating features, ensuring seamless integration and functionality to redefine partnership discovery in the education sector. You will be responsible for designing and developing web applications using React/NextJS, innovating features, providing production support, integrating data, and collaborating with various teams in an Agile-Scrum environment. You will also conduct system analysis to enhance the platform's functionality. You will play a vital role in building and maintaining our Partner Discovery solution, a new innovative tool, designed to help universities to identify and connect with potential partners worldwide.
Must have:
  • Experience with React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a commercial setting.
  • Proficiency in React or NextJS or a similar JavaScript framework.
  • Experience working with APIs, RDBMS, and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to craft effective queries.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, enabling productive collaboration.
Good to have:
  • Previous experience designing and building web/mobile applications.
  • Moderate to good understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git or SVN.
  • Familiarity with development methodologies and operating models.
  • Experience with UI libraries and frameworks like Tailwind, MUI, or Bootstrap is beneficial.

As a Software Engineer, this is what you’ll be doing:


At QS, we are dedicated to transforming the higher education landscape through our diverse range of products. As a Software Engineer, you will play a vital role in building and maintaining our Partner Discovery solution, a new innovative tool, designed to help universities to identify and connect with potential partners worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to influence a product from its inception, creating features and ensuring seamless integration and functionality, all contributing to a project that will redefine partnership discovery in the education sector.


Role responsibilities:


The key duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • Design and develop: Create responsive web applications using React/NextJS that are both functional and visually appealing.
  • Innovate features: Develop new features, enhance existing functionalities, and implement bug fixes to optimise the Partner Discovery platform.
  • Support and maintain: Provide production support alongside development activities to ensure platform stability and performance.
  • Data integration: Integrate front-end components with internal and external APIs for efficient data exchange.
  • Collaborative development: Work as a proactive member of an Agile-Scrum squad, collaborating with back-end developers, QA, UX specialists, Business Analysts, Product Managers, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • System analysis: Conduct requirements analysis, code metrics identification, code analysis, system risk analysis, usability, automation, and software reliability analysis to enhance the platform’s functionality.
  • And any other duties that fall within the scope and purpose of the role.

Key skills and experience:


The following skills, knowledge, experience, and qualifications are required to perform the role:

  •  Proven experience with web technologies, particularly React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in a commercial setting.
  • Proficiency in React or NextJS or a similar JavaScript framework, supported by certification from reputable sources.
  • Experience working with APIs, RDBMS, and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to craft effective queries.
  • Previous experience designing and building independent web / mobile applications, whether through academic or training projects using hybrid or native platforms, is advantageous.
  • Moderate to good understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git or SVN.
  • Familiarity with development methodologies and operating models.
  • Experience with UI libraries and frameworks like Tailwind, MUI, or Bootstrap is beneficial.
  • A curious mindset and problem-solving skills that drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, enabling productive collaboration with QAs, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Driven and self-motivated with the capability to work independently while seeking and integrating guidance as necessary.
