Job Summary
As a software engineer on the site reliability engineering team, you will join a team of talented software engineers who work directly with product and engineering teams to constantly improve reliability across our suite of public safety products. Your responsibilities will include the development and operation of common platform tools and services to improve the reliability of our mission-critical production systems, monitoring and support for these platform and infrastructure services, as well as metrics collection and alerting. You will also be responsible for automating the extraction, transformation, and loading of data related to service reliability and incident metrics, enabling advanced insights through the integration of analytics and AI-based components, and on-call support for products and services in production.
Must Have
- BS in Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years of professional software development
- Excellent communication skills

- Experience with data structures and algorithms

Department Overview
The Cloud Platform Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services in support of Motorola Solutions’ public safety customers.This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow, and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage cloud computing infrastructure to build at scale.

Basic Requirements
Qualified Skills
BS in Computer Engineering (or equivalent degree)
2+ years of professional software development
Excellent communication skills
Experience developing cloud-based applications
Experience with data structures and algorithms
Knowledge of software design principles and best practices
Creativity and persistence when solving complex problems
Enthusiasm for learning key technologies, architectures, processes, and best practices
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with software design patterns
Familiarity with high availability architecture best practices
Familiarity with observability and monitoring
Familiarity with defining and observing SLOs
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with automated testing
Familiarity with container deployment and orchestration technologies at scale
Familiarity incident response, disaster recovery, root cause analysis, and postmortems
Familiarity with IaC
Familiarity with chaos engineering
Familiarity with a hybrid cloud architecture
Familiarity with network services (HTTP, WebSockets, or similar)
Familiarity with AI/ML
Experience working in Agile teams leveraging Scrum, Kanban, or other methodologies and/or understanding of Agile development concepts
Experience being on-call for a product in production
