Job Summary
Obsidian Entertainment is seeking a Staff/Senior Gameplay Engineer with 3+ years of industry experience, proficient in C/C++. The role involves close collaboration with designers on gameplay system implementation, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. This position offers an opportunity to work on exciting projects within the Unreal Engine, either onsite or in a hybrid capacity at our Irvine, CA office. Ideal candidates will have a strong work ethic and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time.
Must Have
- 3+ years of industry experience
- Comfortable working closely with designers on the implementation of gameplay systems
- Excellent communication and team skills
- Proficiency in C/C++
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Good to Have
- Experience using Unreal Engine
- Experience architecting complex gameplay systems
- Experience with cross-platform game development
- Understanding of various specialized engine systems such as networking, physics, and rendering
- Experience developing miscellaneous tools and utilities in either C++, C#, or shell scripting languages
- Experience modifying existing systems as well as adding new systems to modern commercial game engines
