Job Description

The Storyboard Artist Intern will assist the Supervising Director, Episodic Directors and Storyboard Artists with developing expressive and entertaining 3D previsualization for an Animated Episodic TV Series. The internship is suitable for those pursuing a degree and career in Animation for Film or TV, desiring to learn about creating an Animation Episodic TV Series. This hybrid role requires the employee to work 2-3 days onsite at our San Francisco, Presidio office and occasionally from home.
Good To Have:
  • Training in and/or strong demonstrable understanding of the principles of art and film.
  • Experience working with 2D and 3D Storyboard tools such as Storyboard Pro & Maya desired.
  • Proficient at rendering imaginary scenes with little or no reference.
Must Have:
  • Assist in translating ideas provided by Episodic Directors into full scenes.
  • Create illustrations and 3D storyboards to meet production deadlines.
  • Collects visual references.
  • Assist and perform rework on materials multiple times while keeping a fresh eye.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
  • Must provide own housing and reliable transportation during the internship in the San Francisco, CA area.

Job Summary:

The Storyboard Artist Intern will assist the Supervising Director, Episodic Directors and Storyboard Artists with developing expressive and entertaining 3D previsualization for an Animated Episodic TV Series. The internship would be particularly suitable for those pursuing a degree and career in Animation for Film or TV and has a desire to learn about the process of creating an Animation Episodic TV Series.

This role is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work 2-3 days onsite at our San Francisco, Presidio office and occasionally from home.

What you'll do

  • Assist in translating ideas provided by Episodic Directors into full scenes.
  • Create illustrations and 3D storyboards to meet production deadlines.
  • Collects visual references.
  • Assist and perform rework on materials multiple times while keeping a fresh eye.

What we're looking for

  • Proficiency in Photoshop required, as well as familiarity with Wacom tablet/pen.
  • Demo reel and/or portfolio required.
  • Knowledge of cinematic techniques, language and shot composition required.
  • Training in scene, shot, camera, and character composition is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities is important.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in team settings.

Education

  • Pursuing a degree in Animation, Fine Art, Film or related degree.

Preferred Skills

  • Training in and/or strong demonstrable understanding of the principles of art and film.
  • Experience working with 2D and 3D Storyboard tools such as Storyboard Pro & Maya desired.
  • Proficient at rendering imaginary scenes with little or no reference.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
  • The approximate dates of this internship are for May 2026-August 2026, but TBD.
  • Must provide own housing and reliable transportation during the internship in the San Francisco, CA area.
