Job Summary

The Strategic Account Manager supports new business development and existing account growth by developing digital marketing recommendations and advertising campaigns. This role involves managing accounts from strategic planning through campaign reconciliation, ensuring superior client outcomes and supporting retention. The manager will also coordinate with Sales Managers and the Director of Sales to achieve digital revenue goals, acting as a lead digital specialist and subject matter expert in various digital campaign types.

Must Have

  • Manage accounts from strategic planning through campaign reconciliation and wrap up.

  • Create and execute client campaigns to achieve superior outcomes and digital revenue goals.
  • Monitor campaign pacing and performance.
  • Ensure campaigns meet client KPIs, focusing on retention, renewal, and growth.
  • Resolve campaign issues proactively.
  • Assist sales executives in developing and presenting client proposals.
  • Speak expertly to Search/PPC, Programmatic Display and Video, and Social campaigns.
  • 2+ years of experience in Account/Campaign Management or Digital Marketing.

Job Description

The Strategic Account Manager works alongside our Account Executives, supporting new business development and existing account growth, while training and enhancing their understanding of digital strategies. This role will be responsible for developing digital marketing recommendations and advertising campaigns that generate superior outcomes for our clients while also supporting retention and growth through ongoing account management. As a lead digital specialist, you will coordinate with our Sales Managers and Director of Sales to meet our overall digital revenue goals.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic, motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter who can work effectively collaborating in a team environment. The ideal candidate should have digital sales or digital strategy experience and be able to master Nexstar’s state-of-the-art proprietary tools to develop solutions, proposals, and presentations for existing clients and prospects. The SAM exclusively collaborates with administrative team members, Account Executives, Sales Managers and Director of Sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Client Management

  • Manage accounts from strategic planning through campaign reconciliation and wrap up, with primary ownership of the post-sale phases of the campaign lifecycle.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Sales and Clients.
  • Prepare & present campaign reports that tell data-driven stories to clients with thoughtful insights, including monthly reports and wrap decks.

Campaign Management

  • Creation & execution of client campaigns resulting in superior outcomes for the client and in accordance with digital revenue goals from start to finish.
  • Review and organize client assets for Activation teams to set up and launch the campaign successfully.
  • Monitor campaign pacing and performance, alerting activation team on questions.
  • Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure campaigns meet client KPIs, with an end focus on retention, renewal and growth.
  • Resolve campaign issues in a proactive and timely manner, utilizing resources effectively and escalating technical issues when needed.

Team Collaboration

  • Ability to assist sales executives in developing and presenting client proposals.
  • Experience collaborating with teammates and utilizing all resources available.
  • Become the subject matter expert at the station, with the ability to speak expertly to Search / PPC campaigns, Programmatic Display and Video, and Social campaigns providing thoughtful analysis and recommendations.

General Skills

  • Must be a motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter who can work effectively both independently and collaborating in a team environment.
  • Strong skills in presentation, problem solving, verbal & written communication, organization and negotiation.
  • Time management and ability to juggle multiple account executives and clients’ needs with attention to detail.

Education & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (marketing or advertising preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Account/Campaign Management or Digital Marketing related experience.

Training/Equipment: Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Data Visualization Tools, Google Analytics, DSPs, DFP/Google Ad Manager, Zoom

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements: Fast-paced office environment with deadline pressures. Position will require day-to-day multi-tasking, as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority.
