Job Summary
Artificial Rome is a studio at the intersection of art, technology, space, and culture, creating immersive worlds and interactive experiences. They are seeking a Tech Lead with a strong Unreal Engine background to guide the technical side of projects from concept to final build. This role involves leading technical development, setting up architecture, optimizing pipelines, and guiding the team to push Unreal boundaries in interactive, immersive, and spatial contexts, requiring both hands-on coding and strategic leadership.
Must Have
- Deep Unreal Engine expertise (Blueprints, C++, real-time rendering, optimization)
- Strong experience with real-time graphics, shaders, and lighting
- Experience with cross-platform deployment (PC, VR/AR, installations)
- Proven ability to lead technical teams (mentoring, code reviews, technical decision-making)
- Strong understanding of asset pipelines (integration of 3D assets, textures, animations)
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to collaborate with designers, artists, and creative directors in a fast-moving environment
- Understanding of networked/multi-user Unreal setups
- Familiarity with interactive installations and physical computing (tracking systems, sensors, hardware integration)
Good to Have
- Experience with permanent exhibitions
- Experience with Frontend Development
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for pipeline automation
- Experience working in small, creative studios or innovation labs
- An eye for design, detail, and cultural context

We’re looking for a Tech Lead with a strong Unreal Engine background to guide the technical side of our projects – from concept to final build.
Your Role
You’ll lead the technical development of projects, set up architecture, optimize pipelines, and guide the team to push the boundaries of Unreal in interactive, immersive, and spatial contexts. You’ll be both hands-on in code and systems and a strategic leader for the tech stack.
Requirements
