Job Summary
Ubisoft Paris, a pioneering and the largest studio in France, is seeking a VFX Artist to create and implement special effects for their projects. The role involves designing real-time VFX inspired by artistic concepts, ensuring technical optimization, and integrating effects into the game engine. The ideal candidate will have experience in real-time VFX creation, proficiency with game engines like Unreal or Unity, and a strong understanding of art fundamentals. This full-time, permanent hybrid contract position is based in Montreuil, France, with flexibility for remote work up to two days a week.
Must Have
- Create and implement special effects (VFX textures, animations, shaders, material creation) in line with the project's artistic direction.
- Design real-time special effects inspired by artistic concepts.
- Provide VFX solutions that meet the game's artistic, technical, and game design needs.
- Ensure optimization and functionality of special effects, respecting technical constraints.
- Ensure correct integration of VFX into the game engine.
- Experience in real-time VFX creation (preferably on AA or AAA projects).
- Experience with a real-time game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity or any other 3D engine).
- Comfortable with real-time particle/dynamic systems.
- Good understanding of art fundamentals: color theory, lighting, form, composition.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working in an English-speaking environment.

Job Description

- Provide VFX solutions that meet the game's needs, both artistically, technically, and from a game design perspective.
- Ensure the optimization and functionality of special effects, respecting the technical constraints imposed by the project.
- Ensure the correct integration of your VFX into the game engine.
Qualifications
- You have experience in real-time VFX creation (preferably on AA or AAA projects).
- You have experience with a real-time game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity or any other 3D engine).
- You are comfortable with real-time particle/dynamic systems.
- You have a good understanding of art fundamentals: color theory, lighting, form, composition, etc.
- You have excellent communication skills that allow you to collaborate with other departments and act as a bridge between your areas of expertise to enrich gameplay, accessibility, and player experience.
- You are comfortable working in an English-speaking environment.

This position is based in Montreuil, with the possibility of working remotely up to two days per week.
