Job Summary
The Video Editor / Cinematic Artist at Techland is a creative professional responsible for the end-to-end production of visually stunning trailers and video assets. This role involves in-engine capture, advanced editing, sound design, motion graphics, and optimizing output for various platforms. The artist collaborates with the Art Director and Producer to translate concepts into emotionally charged marketing content, defining Techland's visual identity through a blend of technical precision and artistic storytelling.
Must Have
- Own complete production of trailers and video assets from concept to final delivery.
- Capture high-quality gameplay and cinematic footage directly in the game engine.
- Collaborate with Art Director and Producer to interpret briefs and define cinematic goals.
- Apply advanced cinematic editing techniques, mastering visual flow, pacing, and emotional storytelling.
- Design and integrate sound and music, synchronizing audio for immersive experiences.
- Direct simple motion capture sequences and integrate performance data.
- Implement motion graphics and visual transitions reinforcing narrative and brand identity.
- Optimize final video output for multiple platforms and formats (4K, social, console stores).
- Stay current with industry trends and new tools, pushing creative boundaries.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in video editing and cinematic production.
- Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and related toolsets.
- Proficiency with real-time game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary) for cinematic capture.
- Strong understanding of cinematography, lighting, and visual composition.
- Experience in sound design and audio editing.
- Ability to work with mocap data or direct simple performance capture sessions.
- Excellent sense of pacing, rhythm, and emotional storytelling.
- Comfort working independently, taking ownership of the full creative process.
- Collaborative and adaptable, capable of taking feedback and improving iterations quickly.
- Fluent in English, with strong communication and documentation skills.
- Portfolio demonstrating finished trailers or cinematic sequences, ideally for AAA or high-quality independent productions.

- Experience in live-action filming, lighting setup, and camera operation.
- Familiarity with animation workflows and cinematic sequencing tools such as Sequencer (Unreal), Timeline (Unity), or similar.
- Knowledge of color grading and HDR pipeline workflows for high-quality output.
- Understanding of narrative beats, gameplay mechanics, and pacing for open-world or cinematic games.
- Passion for visual storytelling and emotional cinematics, with a drive to constantly refine, polish, and push creative standards.

Job Description
The Video Editor / Cinematic Artist is a creative craftsman within Techland’s Creative Services, responsible for transforming concepts into visually stunning, emotionally charged trailers and video assets. You are the filmmaker and editor, owning the end-to-end process from capture to final edit. This is a hands-on craft role requiring a balance of technical precision and artistic storytelling—combining cinematography, sound, and pacing to deliver world-class marketing content that defines Techland’s visual identity.
You are a self-sufficient creator who thrives in the edit suite and the engine, capable of delivering polished, industry-leading trailers from an abstract script.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the complete production of trailers and video assets, from concept and in-engine capture through editing, sound, and final delivery.
- Capture high-quality, mood-appropriate gameplay and cinematic footage directly in the game engine, staging shots and choreographing camera movements.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Producer to interpret briefs and define cinematic goals.
- Apply advanced cinematic editing techniques, mastering visual flow, pacing, and emotional storytelling.
- Design and integrate sound and music, synchronizing audio to create immersive and engaging experiences.
- Direct simple motion capture sequences and integrate performance data when required.
- Implement motion graphics and visual transitions that reinforce narrative and brand identity.
- Optimize final video output for multiple platforms and formats (4K, social, console stores).
- Stay current with industry trends and new tools, continually pushing creative boundaries in capture and post-production.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in video editing and cinematic production, ideally within the gaming, film, or entertainment industry
- Mastery of industry-standard editing and compositing software, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and related toolsets
- Proficiency with real-time game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary) for cinematic capture and camera work
- Strong understanding of cinematography, lighting, and visual composition, with a director’s eye for framing and movement
- Experience in sound design and audio editing, with an ability to layer, mix, and synchronize sound and music to picture
- Ability to work with mocap data or direct simple performance capture sessions.
- Excellent sense of pacing, rhythm, and emotional storytelling, able to craft cohesive narrative beats through editing
