Job Description

The Vice President, Human Resources will provide HR leadership to the NBC News International bureaus in the UK and other international locations. The role encompasses managing the entire employee life cycle, including recruitment, development, and retention, as well as employee relations, compensation planning, training and development, rewards & recognition, organizational effectiveness, employee communication, employee engagement, culture development, and change management. This position is based in London, reporting to the SVP, HR NBC News in New York, USA, and involves regular travel. Responsibilities include driving HR strategies, providing coaching, leading initiatives, managing key HR processes, advocating for employees, collaborating on recruitment, offering solutions, coaching the HR team, developing inclusion initiatives, participating in HR initiatives, and ensuring compliance with local laws. The role demands strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with a focus on establishing a positive work environment and driving strategic HR priorities.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of HR experience, including change/performance management.

Job Description

The Position

The Vice President, Human Resources will provide HR leadership to the NBC News International bureaus in the UK and other international locations where our employees are deployed or based.  The role will be responsible for leading and managing the entire employee life cycle, such as recruitment, development, and retention, as well as employee relations, compensation planning, training and development, rewards & recognition, organizational effectiveness and employee communication   employee engagement, culture development, and change management.

This position will be based out of our London operations in Osterley, and report into the SVP, HR NBC News, based in New York, USA. 

The role will require regular travel to the USA and global bureau locations as required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the businesses to drive the human resources strategies that supports business objectives
  • Provide HR leadership and coaching to employees and managers regarding employee relations issues, ensuring prompt and effective management and resolution
  • Lead initiatives in partnership with business managers and employees to establish and nurture a positive work environment
  • Drive key HR processes/initiatives including staffing, change management, organizational design, compensation planning, performance management, and employee development
  • Advocate and offer guidance and support to employees concerning work-related issues and work to resolve issues in a proactive and positive manner.
  • Work with hiring managers and talent acquisition team to identify recruitment strategies and top-quality candidate selection
  • Provide timely and creative HR solutions to business issues.
  • Coach, develop and mentor the HR team
  • Develop inclusion initiatives in partnership with the wider news group HR Team
  • Actively participate or lead HR initiatives impacting the NBC News Group
  • Communicate and reinforce HR policies; develop and implement HR practices and procedures aligned to meet the strategic needs of the organization. Ensure compliance with local laws

Qualifications

The Person

  • BS/BA degree in Human Resources or related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant Human Resources partnering experience including change management, performance management and employee relations.  
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United Kingdom
  • Strong leadership skills and experienced in managing and developing HR professionals
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to pivot to shifting priorities
  • Well-versed in HR Best Practices and overall policy and process
  • Proven influencer: demonstrated ability to coach and counsel all levels of employees
  • Demonstrated ability to balance numerous priorities in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, with excellent follow-through and analytical skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to establish credibility and rapport
  • Demonstrated analytical and creative thinking
  • Previous experience in television, media and/or news industries.
  • Strong employee-relations skill set; can earn trust and credibility with employees in assigned groups
  • Strong influencing and conflict resolution skills
  • Must have ability to execute both strategic and tactical priorities
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized, with excellent follow-through and analytical skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimal guidance or direct supervision
  • Takes ownership; able to establish self as the “go-to” HR resource
