Job Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary job of a Standard 3D Designer is to design and create 3D models based on client specifications and requirements. As a new hire, your role is a supporting-level player who is honing your craft, and working to understand the business process, design pipeline, and organizational context of your role. Generally speaking most Level 1 designers come in with little to no previous work experience, but a quality portfolio. You should be competent in a select few key skills. (Listed on the level outline) You are expected to be at the learning level, open to instruction and able to receive direct critique on all assignments. You should be strong and capable in standard design processes.
As you progress past your first 90 days of training you will be considered an ‘Associate Designer’. Your duties will include understanding basic design concepts and industry standard design and manufacturing requirements for playground equipment. Your primary responsibility is to return sales related design requests for potential jobs. You will use 3D modeling, texture, mapping and other techniques to create graphics, visual effects, and animations to fulfill these requests. Depending on your level, designers are also responsible for troubleshooting design issues, conceptualizing new product designs, and reviewing and enhancing design of existing products. You should be actively working toward your CPSC Certification at 6 months of employment.

Should be able to perform basic requests of all the listed request types:
- Color Changes
- Modification of Existing Structures
- Replication of Competitor’s Structures
- Custom Structure Designs
- 2D Site Plan Layouts
- 3D Site Renderings
- Packing Lists
- Installation Guides
- Footer Guides
- Use Zone Documentations
- Part Requests
Designer should be able to handle moderately complex requests of listed types with
help/direction:
- Color Change
- Modification of Existing Structure
- 2D Site Plan Layout
- Use Zone Documentation
Understanding of basic design principles both in relation to composition/previsualization as well as relating to the playground industry (what makes a playground design good)
Needs to have a foundational understanding of Use Zone and Site Layout ASTM standards
Should be able to effortlessly navigate company software including, email, design software packages (3ds max, Sketchup, Layout, etc...) and Seller Central
Have a basic understanding of industry standard vocabulary
Know generally the different departments, their roles, and locations/names of management in those departments
Moderate understanding of navigation of design server file system
Designer should be asking questions frequently, and having worked looked over prior to sending any deliverables out from within the team

Willingness to pick up any design request and working through it with outside help or instruction
Want to learn more about the job and doing a lot of base level work to build foundational skills
Support senior members in daily duties
Learning ASTM standards as they pertain to the job in anticipation of testing
Work on basic level daily requests from request board
Working to become more confident in each software we utilize
