Job Description

AVER is seeking a Business Information Consultant to support public health initiatives with the State of Maryland. This collaborative role involves serving as a subject matter expert in data analysis, creating and maintaining databases for business performance, analyzing complex healthcare datasets, and developing performance reports. The consultant will translate business needs into analytic solutions and strategic insights, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to design analytics for quality improvement, value-based care initiatives, and compliance with HEDIS standards, focusing on Behavioral Health outcomes.
Good To Have:
  • Experience working with relational databases and advanced query/statistical tools.
  • Strong strategic thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets effectively.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Power BI paginated reports.
  • Knowledge of Python for data analysis/automation.
  • Background in healthcare data (claims, provider, clinical, HEDIS, or utilization).

  • Create and publish recurring and ad hoc reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and business relevance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, leadership, and external stakeholders to design analytics that support quality improvement, value-based care initiatives, and compliance with HEDIS standards.
  • Provide analytic consultation and recommendations to influence strategy and optimize behavioral health outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree (data science, statistics, public health, healthcare analytics, or related field).
  • 4-7+ years of experience in data analysis or BI development.
  • Proven experience with Behavioral Health HEDIS measures and related quality reporting.
  • Proficiency in Oracle SQL (PL/SQL highly preferred).
  • Experience with ETL processes in SQL.
  • Strong skills in Power BI dashboard development.
  • Ability to partner with healthcare vendors, clients, and stakeholders to deliver health-related data analysis and BI solutions.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in data analysis, reporting, and interpretation, providing guidance to other analysts.
  • Create and maintain databases to track and monitor business performance, with a focus on Behavioral Health and HEDIS quality measures.
  • Analyze complex healthcare datasets and summarize performance using advanced statistical and analytical procedures.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze performance reports (claims, provider, utilization, HEDIS/quality outcomes), highlighting deviations and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business needs into analytic solutions and strategic insights that support decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Create and publish recurring and ad hoc reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and business relevance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, leadership, and external stakeholders to design analytics that support quality improvement, value-based care initiatives, and compliance with HEDIS standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (data science, statistics, public health, healthcare analytics, or related field).
