Job Description

Operate company watercraft transporting guests, crew, and cargo to/from Disney's Castaway Cay. Responsibilities include vessel operation, cargo transfer, mooring, cleaning, refueling, and basic maintenance (GRP polishing, painting, plumbing, carpentry). Perform island dredging and maintain SCUBA equipment. Comply with DCL safety requirements and Bahamian boating policies. This field service position may involve working at heights, confined spaces, and diving operations. Additional duties as assigned by the Island Leadership Team. The role is based on Disney's private island in the Bahamas.
Must have:
  • 3 years boat captain experience
  • Bahamian Boat Captain license
  • Basic boat maintenance skills
  • Carpentry skills
  • Safety compliance
  • Ability to work in various conditions
Good to have:
  • Diving certification
  • Experience with electronic maintenance systems

Responsibilities:

  • Operation of company water craft for the transport of Guests, crew, and cargo to and from Disney’s Castaway Cay. Duties include but are not limited to operation of assigned water craft, transfer of cargo on and off the assigned vessel, proper mooring and letting go of assigned craft and end of use securing, cleaning and refueling.
  • Perform general maintenance and repair on all water craft and mooring facilities, including GRP polishing, painting, plumbing, upholstery, carpentry, and general repairs as required to maintain vessel standards.
  • Housekeeping of water craft and marina facilities, including pressure washing and sanitizing as required.
  • Perform and assist in Island dredging operations as and when required.
  • Responsible for safe operation of the water craft by complying with the DCL safety requirements, Bahamian boating policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform a field service position that may include working at height, use ladders and areal working platforms, work in confined spaces, and the conduct of diving operations.
  • Responsible for the custody, upkeep and maintenance of the Island self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA).
  • Assigned as a member of the Castaway Cay Hurricane Ride Out Crew • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Island Leadership Team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in The Bahamas
  • Three year boat Captain and boat operation experience.
  • Bahamian Boat Captain license
  • Experience in basic boat maintenance – Fluid and filter changes, DC electrical system and battery storage systems, bilge pumping systems, engine compartment and boat fire-fighting systems etc.
  • Carpentry skills – ability to change out deck planks, staining, varnishing and painting etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diving Certification from a recognized organization
  • Experience in working with electronic planned maintenance systems (AIMS and AMOS) or be willing to learn.

Additional Information:

This role is based on Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes

**Disney Cruise Line is a drug-free workplace. All new hires are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass the drug/alcohol testing will result in immediate termination.
