【Job Summary】
This position will be responsible for leading compensation and benefits (C&B) strategies for the Japan market, ensuring alignment with both local regulations and global corporate guidelines. In addition, the individual will directly support the VP, C&B on executive compensation matters within the remit of the relevant Board Compensation Committee. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in both broad-based and executive compensation, a thorough understanding of benefits administration, and strong stakeholder management skills.
【Responsibilities】
1. Compensation & Benefits Administration
- Design, implement, and manage compensation structures, including base pay, bonus, and benefits programs tailored for the Japan market.
- Ensure local C&B practices align with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and market competitiveness.
2. Executive Compensation Support
- Partner with the VP, C&B to prepare and coordinate materials for the Compensation Committee, focusing on executive remuneration frameworks.
- Conduct market benchmarking, analyze compensation data, and provide recommendations to inform executive pay decisions.
3. Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and Payroll teams to ensure seamless administration of compensation and benefits programs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external consultants and vendors to maximize service delivery and cost efficiencies.
4. Program Management
- Lead on the coordination of global compensation programmes, including the Company’s annual compensation planning cycle, working alongside C&B colleagues in other regions.
- Coordinate the determination and monitoring of annual compensation programme budgets, including annual merit increase budgets, and monitoring of annual bonus plan performance against performance targets.
- Evaluate existing C&B programs for effectiveness, cost efficiency, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Provide recommendations for enhancements, process improvements, and best practices to bolster the overall rewards strategy.
5. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of C&B specialists, fostering a performance-driven and collaborative culture.
- Set team objectives, identify development opportunities, and implement strategies to build functional expertise.
6. Compliance & Risk Management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local labor laws and global corporate governance, working with relevant advisors as needed.
7. Communication & Training
- Develop and deliver comprehensive communications and training materials in both English and Japanese to ensure employee understanding of C&B programs.
- Act as the subject matter expert for queries regarding compensation frameworks, benefits policies, and executive compensation processes.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, including at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in executive compensation, including benchmarking and supporting Compensation Committee decision-making with relevant materials
- Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills; ability to transform data into actionable insights.
- Fluent in English and Japanese (both written and spoken); additional language skills are a plus.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a track record of building cross-functional partnerships.
