Overview
Condé Nast's global digital video teams create premium video content that generates over 1 billion views per month globally, with more than 4,000 episodes per year across unscripted, documentaries, commercials, and event-related content.
The objective of this role, reporting to the Head of Video Programming & Development (Spain) and based in the Madrid office, is to creatively develop the audiovisual presence of Condé Nast's Spanish brands (with a special focus on GQ, Glamour, Architectural Digest, and Condé Nast Traveler), through original video content, in series or one-shots, for global digital platforms (O&O, Youtube, Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram…) with a focus on maximum quality, scalability, and replicability across platforms and markets: iconic series that transcend platforms and markets, that multiply the impact of local and global cultural moments, connect Condé Nast brands with the most interesting audiences, and create advertising integration opportunities for the most important brands in the market.
Responsibilities
- Development of new video and podcast IPs according to the editorial and commercial objectives and priorities of Condé Nast brands, which are replicable and adaptable across different markets and platforms.
- Generate ideas based on pre-existing series as well as new pilots, in series or one-shots, with the highest level of quality in narrative and visual style. Work with optimization and social media teams to maximize the performance of each idea across all platforms.
- Direct on-site episodes and one-shots, defining the visual language of the brands and working with the production team to lead technical and artistic teams.
- Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions with local and international teams. Create storyboards, moodboards, visual references, scripts, and treatments. Clearly define the playbooks for the series developed so that other teams can execute them.
- Creative and editorial supervision of episodes produced without direct intervention in production and filming.
- Collaborate with commercial creative teams in the development and execution of ideas that include advertising integrations; with local and global production teams in establishing working methods that optimize brand resources; and with editorial teams in developing ideas aligned with each brand's objectives.
- Generally, demonstrate a culture of professionalism, attention to detail, adaptability, and results orientation, and participate in the expansion of audiovisual culture and knowledge among all company teams.
Requirements
- More than 4 years of experience in the audiovisual space in a creative and directorial role.
- Demonstrated experience in audiovisual production leading technical and artistic teams, aesthetic taste and sensitivity in composition (portfolio/reel essential).
- Knowledge of the peculiarities of each video platform (O&O, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) and audio/video, and the keys to audience success on each.
- Knowledge of the global cultural landscape: personalities, trends, with special interest in sports, music, and film/TV. Ability to detect personalities and trends that will capture massive attention just before they start to do so.
- Experience in filming with talent, both celebrities and anonymous individuals. Empathy to understand the needs of each person in front of the camera, interview skills, and ability to bring out the best in each personality.
- Curiosity, speed in the creative process. Ability to adapt to execute already developed ideas and build upon them.
- Ability to present and defend developed ideas publicly, ability to give, receive, and apply feedback. Skilled in written and oral interpersonal communication, emotionally intelligent communication style.
- Ability to navigate a complex and global organization, empathy to work with profiles from different professional fields and in different countries, both internal and external to the company.
- Great organizational capacity and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with Condé Nast brands and content.
- Essential: high level of spoken and written English (part of the selection process will be conducted in this language).
- Desirable: independence in recording light, guerrilla material.
- Desirable: experience in directing and creating podcasts.
