Job Summary

Job Description

As a 3D Animator, you will collaborate with the Art Director and other artists to finalize animations, providing artwork for review and applying feedback quickly. You will animate character rigs and props using keyframe animation, communicate with producers and the art team to meet deadlines, and ensure technically sound clips with revisions when needed. You will also manage and maintain organized working files. The candidate must have a proactive approach.
Must have:
  • 3+ years animation experience in interactive media.
  • Expert knowledge of Maya’s animation toolset.
  • Understanding of animation principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of good topology for 3D models.
  • Strong problem-solving methodology.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Self-motivation to raise animation quality.
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of Unity engine’s animation tools.
  • Good knowledge of skinning and rigging tools.
  • Command of traditional/hand-drawn animation.
  • Understanding of game development pipeline.
  • Experience with ZBrush modeling toolkit.
  • Loves video games and making them!

Job Details

We are looking for motivated and passionate 3D animation experts to join our team! As an experienced 3D animator, you have the determination to push boundaries and create kick-ass animations. You enjoy working as part of a team, but have a proactive approach with a hunger to take responsibility on an individual level.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Art Director and other artists to finalize animations for each project; provides artwork for review at appropriate stages and applies feedback accordingly, with quick turnaround.
  • Animate the provided character rig (and props), relying more on your instincts as a keyframe animator than on automation.
  • Communicate with Producers and the Art team to ensure deadlines are met.
  • See through the implementation of said animations with the Tech Art team, making sure for technically sound clips, and make revisions when needed
  • Project, manage, and maintain well-organized working files to facilitate file sharing and collaborative work.
  • Manage workload and milestone requirements by following and/or determining task priorities, time estimates, and scope while proactively raising issues to the team as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years practical animation experience working in interactive media/video game setting   (or a strong portfolio equivalent)
  • Expert knowledge of Maya’s animation toolset
  • Advanced and applied understanding of animation principles and techniques (timing, staging, anticipation, squash and stretch, etc.), with strong grasp of these principles in video game context.
  • Possess a working knowledge of good topology for 3D models, applying changes where needed to expedite animation tasks
  • Strong problem-solving methodology
  • High work ethics and open-minded attitude with excellent communication skills in English, including the ability to give, receive, and solicit constructive written, verbal, and other feedback.
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative to raise the bar of animation quality in our games.

Pluses

  • Experienced animator who has an overlapping knowledge in Unity engine’s animation tools
  • Good knowledge of skinning and rigging tool in Maya is a huge plus
  • Good command of traditional/hand-drawn animation is a plus, but not required
  • A good understanding of the pipeline for game development
  • Experience with ZBrush modeling toolkit
  • Loves video games and making them!
  • A shipped title that includes your work would be really awesome
