Responsible for leading and supervising a team of Payroll specialists/Team leader in APAC. The Payroll team processes multiple payrolls for different countries. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication, collaboration, cross-department coordination, and people management skills, with a bias for action. Experience managing International Payroll teams within the APAC region and a continuous improvement mindset are essential for this role.

Must Have:
  • Lead day-to-day payroll processing operations effectively and accurately
  • Manage and supervise payroll staff, including hiring, discipline, and termination
  • Define standard operating procedures and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Develop and implement new processes or improve existing ones
  • Lead payroll projects with team members
  • Review and sign-off payroll related account reconciliations
  • Review and approve payroll outputs, ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Manage Finance audits for multiple countries and follow up on action closure
  • Manage vendor invoice approvals and coordination
  • On-board new Payroll vendors
  • Improve process documentations and payroll standards
  • Guide and lead payroll professionals to enhance employee experience
  • Manage employee performance reviews and goal setting
  • Be willing to back-up and process payroll occasionally
  • Ensure timely preparation and completion of local reporting requirements
  • Demonstrate a firm understanding of accounting principles and control requirements

Summary:

Responsible for leading and supervising a team of Payroll specialists / Team leader in APAC. The Payroll team in APAC is responsible for processing multiple payrolls for different counties. The right candidate is strong in communication, collaboration, cross-department coordination, people management and biased to action. The desired candidate should have experience of managing International Payroll teams within APAC region and should have continues improvement mind-set.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the payroll processing team ensuring the processes are running effectively and accurately.
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and supervision payroll staff including interviewing and selection, hiring, discipline, and termination of staff.
  • Define standard operating procedures and continuous improvement opportunities for the group and work with the other groups within the region to establish standard controls and processes.
  • Develop and implement new processes/Improve existing processes where needed
  • Project management skills required to lead payroll projects with the team members
  • Review and sign-off of payroll related account reconciliations
  • Review and approve payroll outputs while ensuring quality checks and accuracy
  • Managing Finance audits for multiple countries and follow up on action closure
  • Managing vendor invoice approvals and coordination
  • On-boarding new Payroll vendors
  • Improve process documentations and payroll standards
  • Should guide and lead the team of payroll professionals to improve employee experience
  • Manage employee performance reviews and goals setting
  • Must be willing to be a back-up and process payroll occasionally
  • Ensure the timely preparation and completion of local reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrate a firm understanding of accounting principles and control requirements.
  • Proven track record in problem solving / solution driven.

Skills and Specifications:

  • Strong experience in leading & managing a Payroll team
  • Strong feedback delivery experience and driving a continues improvement culture in the team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence, negotiate and problem solve.
  • Ability to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of the data and information
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Demonstrate problem solving / analytical thinking.
  • Able to work on your own initiative, but where needed, recognize when to escalate to the regional leader.
  • Proficient Excel skills required, with a working knowledge of other Microsoft Office Suite applications. (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Premium customer service skills – Should carry a customer centric approach
  • Strong English language skills

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading a payroll team within a shared service environment.
