Job Summary

This role is for an Assistant Manager within the Enterprise Data Organization, focusing on research, validation, and updating Trade data. The position involves supporting data integration and migration projects to align maritime and trade datasets on a new platform, aiming to generate more data insights for customers. It requires overseeing team operations, managing projects, ensuring quality, and acting as a primary customer contact.

Must Have

  • Oversee individual team members day to day operations including support of personal matters, leave requests, career developments, quarterly reviews.
  • Oversee overall operation of the team workflow, ensuring all tasks are worked on, escalating any shortfalls / backlogs, and mitigating workloads.
  • Act as primary internal and external customer contact, able to provide advice and expertise.
  • Support all projects by initiating working groups, capturing requirements / user stories, and ensuring UAT.
  • Continuously and proactively improve overall quality within the database area of responsibility and report quality metrics.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Set priorities for and coach associates to meet deadlines.
  • Identify and resolve day-to-day problems.
  • Communicate or interact effectively with others.
  • Make good decisions/choices based on available information.
  • Understand how the team relates to other closely related teams to improve efficiency.
  • Manage complex cases / projects.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree (or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Keen interest in the Maritime industry.
  • Research & analysis required.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • An aptitude to learn and adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships in a collaborative setting with immediate coworkers.
  • Be legally eligible to work for the duration of the program in the country for which you apply.
  • Keen attention to detail and good multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

About the Role:

Grade Level (for internal use): 09

The Team: You will be part of the Enterprise Data Organization, composed of 70 colleagues based in Penang, US, and US colleagues within our Maritime Operations cluster. You will provide support on research, validation, and update of Trade data.

The Role: As part of the research and analysis requirements, you will support our expansion on data integration and migration projects by aligning our maritime and trade data sets to a new platform to create more data insight for our customers.

The Impact: This will not only enable exposure to research and analysis of the maritime and trade datasets but also collaboration with data Transformation colleagues in our Enterprise Data Organization team.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee individual team members day to day operations including support of personal matters, leave requests, career developments, quarterly reviews and any other support colleagues may require.
  • Oversee overall operation of the team workflow, ensuring all tasks are worked on, escalating any shortfalls / backlogs, and mitigating workloads where feasible.
  • Primary internal and external customer contact, able to provide advice and expertise.
  • Support all projects by initiating working groups to discuss requirements guided by the principal, capturing requirements / user stories, and ensuring UAT is efficiently maintained to support the project. Ensure sufficient training is met, along with documented workflows.
  • Continuously and proactively improve overall quality within the database area of responsibility and report quality metrics to the director levels
  • Be capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sets priorities for and coaches associates to meet deadlines
  • Impacts the level of service and the team's ability to meet quality, volume, and timeliness objectives within their area
  • Uses judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day problems
  • Uses tact and diplomacy to exchange information and address sensitive issues
