Job Summary

Join an innovative Agile technology team within S&P Global Dow Jones Indices as a Lead Software Engineer, Python. This role involves hands-on coding, documentation, testing, debugging, and team mentoring. You will design and develop applications using Python backends, databases, cloud services, and Java services, taking ownership of code modules and leading code review processes. The position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders to refine user stories, integrate with other internal systems, and focus on building and maintaining REST APIs on cloud platforms, alongside full-stack development for a sophisticated user interface application.

Must Have

  • Engage in hands-on coding, documentation, testing, debugging, support, and team mentoring.
  • Design and develop applications using Python backends, databases, cloud services, and Java services.
  • Take ownership of code modules and lead code review processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to formalize and document requirements for existing applications and new initiatives.
  • Work with other teams to integrate data and services across the enterprise.
  • Break down business objectives into technical requirements, delegate tasks, and conduct code reviews and pull requests.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in application development.
  • Proficient in Python programming, leveraging its versatile libraries and frameworks.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Java development with strong skills in J2EE, JMS, EJB.
  • Proficient in full-stack development, comfortable with backend tasks.
  • Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure setup and deployment automation.
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL database design and development and performance tuning.
  • Expertise in translating complex business requirements into maintainable enterprise software solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with business users.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or Quantitative Finance, or equivalent experience.

Good to Have

  • AWS and cloud engineering services, including databases, Redis, Active MQ, Kafka, S3, EC2.
  • Familiarity with containerization and deployment in cloud environments.
  • Skilled in diagnosing enterprise applications in a cloud environment.
  • Comfortable in multiple operating system environments.
  • Experience with cloud services, messaging systems, and storage solutions.
  • Understanding of financial markets, Index/Benchmarks, Asset Management, Trading platforms.

The Team:

Join an innovative Agile technology team within a global organization, consisting of Development, Quality Assurance, and Product Ownership teams. As a senior developer and technical lead, you will enhance the platform's framework and uphold code quality standards. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine user stories and integrate with other internal systems. The team primarily focuses on building and maintaining REST APIs on cloud platforms, alongside full stack development for a sophisticated user interface application.

Responsibilities and Impact:

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $110,862 to $165,100. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan in addition to base compensation. However, it is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in application development.
  • Proficient in Python programming, leveraging its versatile libraries and frameworks to develop robust, scalable, and efficient applications
  • 2-3 years of experience in Java development with strong skills in J2EE, JMS, EJB.
