About the Role
This role within the Books Research Publishing group supports the Editorial Design team with contract negotiation, rights securement, peer review, publishing ethics and integrity evaluation of the content delivered by our authors and editors, with a focus on a best-in-class author experience.
Role Responsibilities:
- Advise on contracting, third party permissions and integrity queries, escalating and liaising with other departments as needed.
- Support with screening metadata and manuscripts in our publishing tools and communicating findings.
- Analyse data and prepare reports and dashboards to log compliance and prepare business cases.
- Create and maintain instruction manuals for staff on workflows, processes and policies relevant to their daily work around rights and integrity.
- Support the preparation of training materials and documentation for contracting and integrity topics.
- Participate in training sessions to build internal knowledge.
- Investigate and document policies and guidance on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in research publishing.
- Stay informed on current publishing ethics, research integrity trends, new developments & tools, and share further updates.
- Assist in exploring future of scientific and academic book publishing considering the use of LLMs and feedback to the team on findings.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Essential
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Fluent written and verbal English communication skills to convey complex information clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively with in-house teams and build strong relationships.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft and Google applications and tools (Power Point, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.), with the ability to use them effectively for collaboration, analysis, and communication.
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach and strong prioritization skills.
- Comfortable working with data, Boolean operators and basic reporting tools (e.g. sql, Google Big Query).
- Able to develop and present training materials to large audiences, both virtual and in-person.
Desirable:
- Experience in publishing and working in a fast-paced environment, managing priorities with speed and accuracy.
- Understanding of Books publication processes and workflows.
- Ability to work effectively in a complex matrix environment.
- Strong engagement and motivational skills to bring Editorial teams on board with new processes.
