About the Role
Do you love science but feel that a career at the bench isn’t enough to sate your desire to learn more about scientific research? Do you enjoy reading papers outside your chosen area of research? If the answer is ‘yes’ to any or all these questions, you could be the person we’re looking for to join the Nature Portfolio editorial team.
To help us build on the success of the portfolio, we’re seeking an editor with experience in clinical or human health research (e.g. RCT, observational studies, biomarker studies, prevention studies, population health), either in the context of healthy aging or focused on one or multiple diseases or conditions associated with aging (e.g. dementia, CVD, cancer, osteoarthritis, sarcopenia, frailty, intrinsic capacity). The ideal candidate has received formal training in clinical research, epidemiology (incl. social epi.), public and global health, or any other clinical and population health disciplines linked to the scope of the journal. They possess a critical eye, have a deep understanding of their own subject and interests beyond it, can think on their feet, and are passionate about aging research. Expert knowledge of statistics, bioinformatics, and/or machine learning is desirable

- Making well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice.

- Commissioning and editing reviews and opinion articles such as Reviews, Perspectives and Comments, and writing Editorials and Research Highlights.

- A PhD (or equivalent) in a field relevant to the scope of Nature Aging.
- Additional research experience valuable but not needed.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including fluent English (written and spoken).
- The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different areas of this discipline.
