Tencent Games seeks a visionary Strategic Business Development Manager to drive partnerships in Japan's dynamic video game ecosystem. This role is pivotal in expanding Tencent's global IP portfolio, fostering co-development opportunities, and enhancing our leadership in the gaming and entertainment industries.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end negotiations for IP licensing, co-developmt, investment and cross-industry collaborations with top-tier Japanese animation studios, comics publishers, and game developers.
- Build trusted relationships with key decision-makers (e.g., IP owners, creators, publishers) to unlock innovative collaboration models and long-term value.
- Resolve complex bottlenecks in negotiations through creative problem-solving and cross-functional coordination (e.g., legal, product, marketing).
- Conduct deep-dive analysis of Japan's ACG market trends, competitor strategies, and emerging IP opportunities to inform Tencent's investment roadmap.
- Drive synergy projects between Japanese creators and Tencent's global ecosystem
- Oversee contract lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with intellectual property laws and mitigating risks in cross-border partnerships.
- Monitor post-deal performance metrics (e.g., IP revenue, user engagement) and iterate strategies for continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree or above, experienced ACG (Animation, Comics & Gaming) industry professional with 5+ years in the industry. Business and partner relationship management experience with well-known gaming companies, capable of managing strategic relationships, and solving complex cooperative problems tactfully;
- Able to proactively build solid relationships with key creators and decision-makers at Japanese animation, comics publishers & game developers.
- Deep understanding of the industry including development and publishing processes. Experience in collaborating with well-known companies in other entertainment industries is a plus;
- Possess strategic thinking abilities, a good sense of the big picture, strong logical thinking. Prior background in consulting or investment industries is preferred but not a must;
- Proficient or Native in Japanese language, with a second language of Chinese or English to interact with stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, strong resistance to challenges.

Experience in consulting/investment banking with exposure to TMT (Technology, Media, Telecom) sectors.
