THE ROLE:
Our Compositing Artists are responsible for the compositing of multiple image layers derived photographically and computer-generated into a single cohesive image. Our Compositors ensure photoreal integration of all VFX elements with the live action plate and establish aesthetic consistency across their shot(s), in line with feedback from the Compositing Lead and VFX Supervisor.
Requirements
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Assist with visual effects compositing and digital post production tasks with supervision from Lead and Supervisor.
- Support the integration of live action and computer-generated elements into visual effects shots that realize the vision and creative direction of the client and VFX supervisor.
- Perform tasks associated with the compositing process as requested by the supervisor, including but not limited to: 2D/3D tracking, matte extraction, layering of elements and color grading.
- Perform digital matte painting, texture painting, or paint/roto work.
- Collaborate with the VFX Supervisor and Compositing Lead, evaluate the creative and technical approach for assigned shots.
- Support seamless integration of the various layers or elements of a live-action shot.
- Communicate progress and flag technical or creative issues promptly with production and supervising artists.
- Accountable for assigned task targets and proactive communication related to the assigned targets.
- Follow the production process and develop creative approaches and solutions.
- Provide general assistance with VFX tasks and discussions as required including but not limited to: pipeline development/maintenance, data management and process documentation creation/maintenance.
- Engage in communication tools provided for use - specifically Teams and fTrack.
- Prepare progress reports when requested and complete time logging on a daily basis.
- Achieve 100% on-time delivery of VFX tasks, completed in-scope and within time allocation.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum two (2+) years as a Compositor in Feature Films, Television and/or Commercials.
- Minimum two (2+) years’ experience in Nuke including a good knowledge of Nuke’s Gizmos and Groups workflows.
- Working knowledge of 2.5D approaches, projections and using 3D environments within Nuke.
- Demonstrate well-developed artistic sensibilities and be able to interpret notes.
- Showcase a resilient and positive attitude and a proactive communication style.
- Basic Scripting ability (MEL, Python).
- Understanding of the principles of cinematography, photography and colour science and of course Compositing best practices.
- Ability to work closely with both artists and production to solve problems within a production schedule.
- Be able to convey and incorporate ideas across multiple disciplines.
- In order to meet target deadlines, our Compositing Artists must have effective time management skills and be able to prioritize their work effectively.
