Job Description
Lanterns is an independent studio based in Tunis, Tunisia, with a passion for creating compelling stories. We are currently looking for concept artists to help us bring our projects to life.
The daily life of a Concept Artist at Lanterns:
- Sketch, draw, and design art concepts to bring the vision of the director to life.
- Create environments, characters, objects, and atmospheres to define the visual style of the comics.
- Produce storyboards to plan out the flow of the comic, including key scenes, camera angles, and character poses.
- Break down scripts into visual elements, ensuring clear storytelling through illustrations.
- Collaborate with writers and the team to balance the visual narrative and dialogue.
- Proficiency in using digital drawing tools like Clip Studio Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or other software commonly used in comics production (e.g., Procreate, Krita).
- Develop rough sketches and refine them into polished artwork for final production.
- Make necessary changes to ensure the work aligns with the artistic vision.
- Carry out all other related tasks involved in comic production.

What it takes to make it:
- Strong drawing and illustration skills, with a solid portfolio demonstrating concept art proficiency.
- Experience in creating character designs, environments, and objects.
- Knowledge of anatomy, architectural elements, and mechanical design.
- Strong understanding of image composition and storytelling through visuals.
- Ability to adapt styles and work within the artistic direction of the project.
- Keen observation and research skills to inform and enhance your artwork.
- Familiarity with 3D software for reference or integration.
- Ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally within a team.
- Comfortable working in an iterative process, with an openness to feedback and revisions.
