Job Summary

As a Data Architect within the DAI (DATA & Artificial Intelligence) Engineering Directorate at Thales's Rennes site, you will define data architectures, select appropriate technologies, ensure data quality and security, and support data projects. You will also promote interoperability and innovation, contributing to the protection of French military air traffic control and defensive cyber warfare against cyber threats.

Must Have

  • Define global data system architecture (data warehouse, data lake, cloud solutions)
  • Select appropriate tools and technologies (databases, ingestion channels, analysis tools, AI models)
  • Implement standards and controls for data reliability and integrity (reference data management, quality, security, GDPR compliance)
  • Ensure application of best security practices (encryption, access management, audit) and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in technical definition of projects and support data teams (data engineers, data scientists, dataOps, ML engineers, developers)
  • Ensure coherent integration of data and systems within the existing ecosystem
  • Monitor technological evolutions and propose innovative solutions to create value
  • 5 years of experience in data project execution (data engineer, MLOps, data science)
  • At least 2 years of experience as an architect
  • Proficiency in data technologies (ETL, databases, Big Data tools, Cloud)
  • Strong skills in at least one data-oriented language (Python, Julia, Scala)
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity and data regulations
  • Strong knowledge of scalability, performance, and data management issues
  • Knowledge of AI/machine learning challenges and their integration into architectures

Good to Have

  • Notions of large volume data management ("Big Data") and associated technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra)
  • DevOps culture and associated tools (Ansible, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of public clouds (GCP, AWS)

Your daily life

At the heart of the Cyber excellence hub, our Rennes site contributes to the protection of French military air traffic control and defensive cyber warfare. As such, we meet our clients' needs in the fight against cyber threats. We work with and support operational staff in the development of cyber defense solutions.

Within the DAI (DATA & Artificial Intelligence) Engineering Directorate, you will join a dynamic team passionate about data, innovation, and performance challenges.

Your main missions will be:

  • Define data architecture: Design the overall organization of data systems (data warehouse, data lake, cloud solutions, etc.) to guarantee their performance and sustainability.
  • Choose technologies: Select the tools and technologies (databases, ingestion channels, analysis tools, AI models, etc.) best suited to business and technical needs.
  • Ensure data quality: Implement standards and controls to guarantee the reliability and integrity of data (reference data management, quality, security, GDPR compliance, etc.).
  • Secure data: Ensure the application of best security practices (encryption, access management, audit) and regulatory compliance.
  • Support data projects: Participate in the technical definition of projects and support teams (data engineers, data scientists, dataOps, ML engineers, developers) in their execution.
  • Promote interoperability: Guarantee the coherent integration of data and systems within the existing ecosystem.
  • Promote innovation: Monitor technological evolutions and propose innovative solutions to create value.

Your Profile:

You are a Bac+5 graduate in computer science (Engineering School or Master's) and have 5 years of experience in data project execution (data engineer, MLOps, data science, etc.) including at least 2 years as an architect.

You have the following skills:

  • Proficiency in data technologies (ETL, databases, Big Data tools, Cloud).
  • Strong skills in at least one data-oriented language (Python, Julia, Scala, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity and data regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of scalability, performance, and data management issues.
  • Knowledge of AI/machine learning challenges and their integration into architectures.
  • Autonomy and ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent communication to popularize technical concepts to non-specialists.
  • A good command of English is essential to interact effectively with our international teams and partners.

The following skills are a plus:

  • Notions of large volume data management ("Big Data") and associated technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, etc.) are a plus.
