Job Description

PayPal is seeking a strategic and business-oriented Director of Analytics to lead analytical initiatives for its Consumer commercial team. This hybrid leader will translate complex analytics into actionable insights to influence product, marketing, and financial decisions, driving growth, engagement, and profitability. The role involves building and mentoring a high-performing analytics team, developing scalable measurement frameworks, and partnering cross-functionally to accelerate consumer growth and strengthen PayPal’s competitive advantage.

  • Proven track record of turning data into business impact, influencing product, marketing, and commercial strategy.
  • Experience supporting consumer-facing digital or payments businesses where analytics drives customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Strong stakeholder management and storytelling ability — capable of framing analytics in a business-first, outcome-oriented way.
  • Deep expertise in data science, experimentation, and causal inference, with a pragmatic balance of rigor and speed.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience designing and operationalizing data pipelines, metric frameworks, and experimentation systems at enterprise scale.
  • History of building and leading high-performing analytics teams with diverse technical and business skills.
  • Skilled at mentoring and developing analytics talent and establishing a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Adept at operating within matrixed organizations, bridging analytics with product, marketing, and finance.
  • Strong grasp of P&L dynamics, understanding how analytics informs revenue, cost, and margin levers.
  • Experience analyzing consumer lifecycle metrics, pricing elasticity, and ROI frameworks.
  • Ability to connect insights directly to financial outcomes and strategic investments.
  • Exceptional data storytelling skills — can distill complex insights for executive audiences.
  • Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and driving strategic alignment through analytics-driven recommendations.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to link data to customer experience, brand strategy, and financial performance.
