Director Strategy Benelux

Location: Mechelen or Alphen aan den Rijn

As Director Strategy, you will guide the strategic direction and digital development of Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory BeNeLux. You will translate the overarching strategy into a concrete action plan for the Benelux market, with a focus on digital transformation, customer-centric growth, and partnerships. You will lead a team of 8 senior project and program managers and work closely with the MT, including the MD and CFO.

Your responsibilities

• Leading the annual strategic planning process (VSP, budgeting, project prioritization)
• Identifying growth opportunities through market insights, customer segmentation, and competitor analysis (including startups, software providers, and professional federations)
• Rolling out strategic and digital initiatives, including M&A, partnerships, and platform development
• Building dashboards and data-driven insights for portfolio and strategy management
• Developing a vision for WK's role in the legal ecosystem and customer workflow, including generative AI and open data policy
• Connecting internal and external stakeholders (e.g., software division, government, federations) for joint innovation and new propositions
• Leading complex cross-functional projects such as merger integrations or compliance initiatives
• Representing the organization in strategic discussions and high-level negotiations

About the role

This position requires more than strategic thinking on paper: you are a pragmatic leader who performs analyses, connects signals, and formulates sharp recommendations. You work hands-on and move smoothly between strategic framework and operational reality.

You are literally at the backbone of the organization: at the intersection of strategy, operations, technology, and market. You are responsible for both execution and results.

You are strong in systems thinking and storytelling, know how to reduce complex developments to their core, and translate vision into direction and action.

As the strategic right-hand of the MD, you work on the long-term vision of Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory in the Benelux. You actively seek synergy with other countries, business units, and partners and ensure that digital innovations contribute to sustainable growth.

Your profile

• 5–15 years of experience in strategy consulting, business development, or digital transformation
• Preferably a background at a renowned strategy consulting firm; ideally combined with several years of experience in a corporate environment
• Experience with C-level stakeholder management and leading multifunctional teams
• University degree, preferably supplemented with an MBA or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical skills, systemic thinker, and persuasive in communication and storytelling
• Fluent in Dutch and English
