Duty Technician

As a Duty Technician, you will report to the Chief Engineer, ensuring smooth, safe, and guest-ready hotel operations. Your technical skills, proactivity, and attention to detail will maintain all building systems, plant equipment, and guest-facing infrastructure at peak performance, contributing to an exceptional guest experience.

Must Have

• Respond to guest and colleague maintenance requests
• Carry out preventative maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment
• Regularly inspect plant rooms, safety systems and essential infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with WHS standards
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, equipment checks, and repairs
• Work collaboratively with contractors and external trades for specialist works
• Hands-on experience with hotel maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical)
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify faults and carry out quality repairs
• Excellent communication skills
• A safety-first mindset and physical capability for practical demands
• Flexible to work varied shifts (AM/PM), including weekends and public holidays
• Full AU working rights

Your technical skills, proactivity, and attention to detail will ensure that all building systems, plant equipment, and guest-facing infrastructure are functioning at their peak.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to guest and colleague maintenance requests
• Carry out preventative maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment
• Regularly inspect plant rooms, safety systems and essential infrastructure

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

• Hands-on experience with hotel maintenance, particularly electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and mechanical equipment.
• Trade qualifications are highly regarded, but not essential - what counts is your proven technical ability and reliability.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with confidence in identifying faults and carrying out quality repairs.
• Excellent communication skills
• A safety-first mindset, physically capable of handling the practical demands of the role.
• Flexible to work varied shifts (AM and PM), including weekends and public holiday
