The EMEA Global Trade Compliance Manager will join Aptiv's Global Trade Compliance team in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient and compliant import/export operations across EMEA, adhering to all regulations and internal policies. The manager will report to the EMEA Global Trade Lead and be responsible for developing policies, delivering training, managing audits, and optimizing customs procedures. The position requires a professional with top-tier global trade experience, focusing on compliance and duty savings initiatives.
Must have:
  • Develop policies and procedures for customs regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and deliver global training to relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish, document, and update general trade compliance processes.
  • Lead resolutions for business teams during Import and Customs Compliance audits.
  • Manage third-party brokers contract and renewal in EMEA.
  • Manage HTS classification process and provide escalatory support.
  • Implement Aptiv’s Global Trade Compliance Internal Assessments.
  • Manage EMEA trade systems and lead new module implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with and optimization of customs special procedures.
  • Lead resolution of issues on origin determination, FTAs, and supplier declarations.
  • Deliver SME and ensure Aptiv participation in Supply Chain Security and Import Compliance Programs.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of customs related records.
  • Drive EMEA duty savings projects and initiatives using trade data analytics.
  • Resolve operational compliance emergencies and make compliance decisions.
  • Conduct analysis on import/export data for duty mitigation.
  • Provide due diligence and M&A support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support corporate planning.

EMEA Global Trade Compliance Manager

Experienced Customs & Global Trade professional required to join our Global Trade Compliance team in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The EMEA Global Trade Compliance Manager will be part of a team responsible for the import/export compliance program for operations throughout EMEA. This role focuses on ensuring that Aptiv EDS business is conducted efficiently and at all times in full compliance with all import and export regulations, as well as all Aptiv internal policies and procedures, reporting to the EMEA Global Trade Lead.

Your role

  • Development of policies and procedures relating to customs regulatory requirements to be followed by the business across the region
  • Maintain and deliver training globally and across all functions and business units to relevant stakeholders
  • Establish, document and ensure periodic update of general trade compliance processes and procedures
  • Lead resolutions for business teams during Import and other Customs Compliance related audits.
  • Manage third party brokers contract and renewal process within the EMEA region
  • Manage HTS classification process and provide escalatory support to Classification team
  • Implement Aptiv’s Global Trade Compliance Internal Assessments and manage identified improvements/developments.
  • Manage EMEA trade systems and lead implementation of new modules
  • Ensure compliance with, and optimisation of, all applicable customs special procedures (IPR, OPR, Customs Warehousing, Temporary Import, etc)
  • Lead resolution of issues for Aptiv sites on origin determination, qualification under Free Trade Agreements and issuing of Long Term Supplier declarations.
  • Deliver SME and ensure Aptiv participation in Supply Chain Security and Import Compliance Programs (eg, AEO).
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of customs related records in accordance with Aptiv and Legal requirements.
  • Drive EMEA duty savings projects and initiatives using trade data analytics, with close collaboration with GTC leadership team
  • Resolution of operational compliance emergencies and ability to make compliance decisions on Aptiv actions for business leaders
  • Conduct analysis on import/export data to identify potential duty mitigation opportunities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, Finance, Sites etc.) to support corporate planning initiatives

Your Background

  • Top-tier global trade experience, including with a law or consulting firm and/or multinational company
  • 8-12 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience working on customs-related topics in North African countries
  • Technology and/or automotive industry experience is desirable
  • Prior people management experience is desirable
  • Experience with SAP GTS preferred
  • English fluency required, French/Arabic language skills desirable
