Job Description

As Global Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for Freight & Customs activities within the ASUX PC&L Organization. This key position involves coordinating specific activities in Freight Operations and Customs, and driving robust cost improvement projects globally. Optimized Logistics and Freight Management will enable the company to focus investments on business growth and operational flow. This is a temporary project position with an afternoon-to-evening shift. You will drive excellence in Freight and Customs Management, ensuring smooth execution of Logistics operations, and guide teams in best practices as a subject matter expert, driving continuous improvement in operational and financial performance.
Must have:
  • Optimize utilization and network design of Transportation and Customs Operations, and rate reductions
  • Support overall network design of ASUX Logistics & Supply Chain, rate reductions, utilization, and process creation
  • Manage Global Freight & Customs standards, processes/procedures, and cost savings initiatives
  • Own continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in Logistics through ECIP and MCIP savings funnels
  • Reduce the use of Premium Freight and ensure proper authorization
  • Drive robust root cause analysis of failure modes and effects in Logistics, Freight, and Customs
  • Drive Plant PC&L organizations to deliver on target as set out in the yearly plan (BBP) in terms of Freight & Customs
  • Ensure trade compliance along with corporate functions in charge
  • Drive breakthrough initiatives to deliver beyond BBP targeted performance
  • Support ongoing functional transformation with improved capabilities and competencies
  • Support annual budgeting process (BBP) and strategic planning
  • Coordinate execution of identified initiatives to ensure division consistently hits Business Plan targets
  • Ensure sharing and deployment of best practices inside the Organization, supporting Regions and Plants

About this position

As Global Logistics Specialist you will be responsible for Freight & Customs activities inside the ASUX PC&L Organization.

In this key position, you will coordinate specific activities within the Freight Operations and Customs domain, and drive robust cost improvement projects across the globe in close cooperation with other Global, Regional and Plant cross-functional teams.

Optimized Logistics and Freight Management will enable the company to focus investments on growth of the business and enable flow in our operations.

Note: This is a temporary project position with an afternoon-to-evening shift, running from 14:30 to 23:00 (Portugal time).

Your Role

The Global Logistics Specialist will drive excellence in Freight and Customs Management, ensuring smooth execution of our Logistics operations, with special focus on Freight and Customs related topics. In addition, you will guide the Plant, Regional and Global teams in Logistics best practices as a subject matter expert, and drive continuous improvement in our operational and financial performance.

More specifically, the Roles & Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Optimize the utilization and network design of Transportation and Customs Operations, as well as rate reductions in collaboration with Corporate Logistics;
  • Support the overall network design of ASUX Logistics & Supply Chain, as well as rate reductions, utilization and creation of processes and procedures;
  • Manage Global Freight & Customs standards, processes/procedures and cost savings initiatives;
  • Own continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives in Logistics, through our ECIP and MCIP savings funnels;
  • Reduce the use of Premium Freight and ensure proper authorization of the same;
  • Drive a robust root cause analysis of failure modes and effects in the Logistics, Freight and Customs area;
  • Drive the Plant PC&L organizations to deliver on target as set out in the yearly plan (BBP) in terms of Freight & Customs;

  • Coordinate the execution of the identified initiatives to ensure the division consistently hits the targets as laid out in the Business Plan;
  • Ensure sharing and deployment of best practices inside the Organization, supporting the Regions and Plants

Your Background

  • Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Business Management, International Relations, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other relevant area;
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain/Logistics Processes (with preference for Operations, Manufacturing and Logistics related ones)
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in progressively more responsible and challenging roles in PC&L/Supply Chain/Logistics in a multinational company.
  • Knowledge of SAP and other relevant systems/tools, and relevant experience as a professional user in a challenging environment;
  • Good knowledge of the English language;
  • Analytical mindset, strongly process driven and used to view the performance through “process and people” angle;
  • Good working knowledge of MS office and integration with other systems;
  • Experience in a challenging automotive environment.

Nice to haves (preferred qualifications)
