General Summary:
Qualcomm is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Engineer, Senior, to join our WLAN Software team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in WLAN and networking protocols, a strong background in Linux kernel and user space development, and proven leadership skills. You will lead a team of 4–5 engineers, driving technical excellence and timely delivery across multiple concurrent products in a high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 WLAN software engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
- Architect, design, and develop WLAN software solutions for Linux and Android platforms.
- Tackle complex system issues such as CPU starvation, throughput bottlenecks, and platform software stability.
- Guide junior team members, enabling them to deliver results under high-pressure, multi-tasking conditions.
- Manage and deliver multiple products concurrently, ensuring adherence to strict deadlines.
- Interface with global technical leads, present release plans, and propose mitigations for technical and logistical challenges.
- Communicate effectively through emails and meetings, providing clear technical context and actionable insights.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and independence in driving tasks to closure.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for WLAN software projects, influencing architecture and technology choices.
- Review and approve design documents, code, and technical artifacts to ensure high quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Drive innovation by identifying and implementing best practices, process improvements, and new technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, product management) to align software development with overall product goals.
- Represent the team in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and partners.
- Mentor and develop talent within the team, supporting career growth and skills development.
- Take ownership of critical issues, driving root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
- 7–8 years of hands-on experience in WLAN software development.
- Strong knowledge of WLAN and network protocols.
- Solid understanding of Linux kernel internals and Linux/Android user space, with hands-on development experience.
- Proven ability to resolve complex system-level issues (CPU starvation, throughput bottlenecks, stability).
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills—written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Qualcomm chipsets and automotive/embedded platforms.
- Exposure to global product development and cross-site collaboration.
