Job Summary
The Environment TD is responsible for creating high-end 3D environments for shots and sequences. This role balances technical and artistic demands, setting standards for environment creation and layout workflows. Duties include hero environment creation, scene assembly, technical oversight, collaboration, and maintaining visual fidelity and scene organization.
Must Have
- Build detailed, shot-ready environments using modular and custom elements
- Manage large-scale scenes for use in lookdev and lighting
- Ensure environments are clean, efficient, and fit into studio pipeline requirements
- Resolve scene integration issues with layout, lighting, and comp
- Maintain realism, composition, and scale accuracy in all environments
- Maintain high standards of scene cleanliness and usability
- Deliver visually strong, technically efficient environments on time
- Expert in Maya, Houdini, Substance, Mari, and environment build tools
- Advanced knowledge of layout, modularity, and large-scale scene management
- Strong technical problem-solving and communication
- Excellent eye for composition, lighting, and form
- Experience of using on-set data such as photogrammetry and lidar
Good to Have
- Familiarity with SpeedTree, Gaea, or terrain workflows
- Python or tool feedback experience is a plus
- Understanding of camera projection, matte painting, and DMP workflows
- Ability to create and improve team tools or workflows
- Excellent communicator, sharing information clearly and actively listening
- Strong time management, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and escalate delays in a timely manner
- Adaptable to change with the ability to stay focused and maintain a positive attitude
