We are creating a heartwarming, fairy-tale style life simulation game where 'performance' is a crucial element. The Game Director will deeply understand the emotional core of our fairy-tale world and translate it into touching experiences using top-tier cinematic language. This role involves defining visual narrative strategies, designing in-game narrative performances, directing promotional videos, and leading a team.
Good To Have:
  • Experience as a video team lead or core liaison in a gaming company, with a deep understanding of game development processes and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Familiarity with the entire video production process, understanding the latest film and television technologies and in-game video production tools (e.g., Unity, UE).
Must Have:
  • Collaborate with the core creative team to define the overall narrative performance visual style and video content strategy.
  • Design storyboards, cinematic language, pacing, and emotional expression for all important in-game narrative animations, character performances, and cutscenes.
  • Review and approve the final quality of all performance content, ensuring high artistic and technical standards.
  • Lead the creative conception, scriptwriting, and directing of all external promotional videos.
  • Manage and guide internal execution teams or external vendors for efficient video content production.
  • 5+ years of experience in video directing, film directing, or senior narrative performance design in the game industry.
  • Proven success in leading in-game narrative performance or large-scale promotional video projects (especially RPG, narrative-driven games).
  • Excellent aesthetic and visual expression abilities, with a deep understanding of 'healing' and 'fairy tale' styles.
  • Excellent narrative and directing abilities, proficient in cinematic language for emotional storytelling.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to articulate ideas and manage projects.
  • Proficiency in professional video editing and production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Understanding of 3D animation production processes (e.g., character animation, camera animation, lighting rendering).

You need to deeply understand the emotional core of our fairy-tale world and transform it into a touching experience using top-tier cinematic language.

Core Responsibilities:

Overall Visual Narrative Strategy:

  • Work closely with the project's core creative team, deeply participate in the construction of the IP worldview and main storyline, and formulate the project's overall narrative performance visual style standards and video content strategy.

In-game Narrative Performance Design (Core):

  • Responsible for the storyboard design, cinematic language design, pacing control, and emotional expression of all important in-game narrative animations, character performances, and cutscenes.
  • Guide animation, special effects, and audio teams to ensure that the final performance effect aligns with the project's established tone of healing, fairy tale, and emotional resonance.
  • Review and approve the final quality of all performance content, ensuring high artistic and technical standards.

External Promotional Video Creativity and Production:

  • Lead the creative conception, scriptwriting, and directing of all external promotional videos (including but not limited to trailers, gameplay introductions, theme PVs, brand promotional films).
  • Accurately grasp market trends and player psychology, effectively convey the game's core features and emotional value through video content, and enhance market expectations for the project.

Team Management and Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

  • Manage and guide internal execution teams (e.g., video editors, motion graphic designers) or external vendors to efficiently produce video content.
  • As the core liaison for the project's video direction, efficiently collaborate with planning, art, programming, marketing, and other departments to ensure smooth communication and consistent vision.

Job Requirements

Essential Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in video directing, film directing, or senior narrative performance design in the game industry.
  • Successfully led in-game narrative performance or large-scale promotional video projects (especially RPG, narrative-driven games), with a portfolio to showcase.
  • *Preference given to candidates with experience as a video team lead or core liaison in a gaming company, with a deep understanding of game development processes and cross-departmental collaboration.*

Core Abilities:

  • Excellent Aesthetic and Visual Expression Abilities: Extreme pursuit of color, composition, light and shadow, rhythm; deep understanding and unique insights into "healing" and "fairy tale" styles.
  • Excellent Narrative and Directing Abilities: Proficient in cinematic language, skilled at conveying emotions, shaping characters, and telling stories through visuals and performance.
  • Strong Communication and Leadership Skills: Able to clearly articulate creative ideas, inspire team enthusiasm, and efficiently manage project progress and resources.
  • Solid Technical Foundation: Familiar with the entire video production process, *understanding the latest film and television technologies and in-game video production tools (e.g., Unity, UE) is a plus.*

Technical Abilities:

  • Proficiency in professional video editing and production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Understanding of 3D animation production processes (e.g., character animation, camera animation, lighting rendering), able to communicate efficiently and professionally with technical artists and animators.
